These have quickly become my favorites due to their ease of use and simplicity. The most significant aspect for me is their ability to provide consistent readings, to the extent that I don't see the necessity for follow-up testing or retests.

These testers are quick and simple to use. They're not as precise as electronic meters but convenient enough since they are disposable, fast and easy to read. Can't tell the color we'll on my pics but the sticks will match the scale in the bottle. I tested all my sources of water at home (kitchen, bathroom sink, shower, etc) and as expected I don't seem to have hard-water anywhere. You can tell if you take a clear glass of water and fill it half way, let it evaporate by itself and if it leaves a lot of residue.

We have had our water tested before back when you could walk into a Sears store, but a water softener and bring them in the bottle of your tap water. Then they would determine the correct setting for the softener. Well that cant happen anymore but these, do the trick more or less. Our water softener has a manual and tells you what to set the softening at depending on the hardness of your water. This tells you that hardness! The only caveat is that it doesnt tell you the amount of iron. For iron in the water, you have to adjust the softener to make it soften more than it would for simply the hardness. We have iron and quite a bit but at least we have a starting point when our softener resets and we didnt write down the softener setting. This time, once we get it right Im using a sharpie on th softener itself because no one keeps manuals anymore- we just look them up online.
