No more throw away utensils for me!

This little foldable unit is very light weight, much lighter than an item of similar size in steel. It is easy on the lips for use with hot food as it wont transfer the heat and burn them. It folds and unfolds with ease but stays extended with a sturdy snap so you wont wear your food. I was concerned that it would be too small for a good sized bite but it is perfect, even for a big mouth, like me! The size of the spoon bowl probably wont go through a bowl of soup quickly, but for everything else it is perfect. I dont camp or backpack but hate to use throw away utensils at quick stops for lunch. This tucks easily into my purse for use on the go!

I should have read the description a little better because I thought they were metal. Great sporks regardless and great for at work and/or when camping. I will continue to use them instead of a metal spork that I originally wanted.

flimsy little things) These MSRs fit just fine inside the small GSI bowls (when folded

I got these to replace two GSI sporks that came with the GSI Microdualist. The GSI sporks eventually broke (no surprise there; flimsy little things) These MSRs fit just fine inside the small GSI bowls (when folded, and at an angle) and are much sturdier. They're also longer and cheaper per unit than the GSI replacements (and since MSR includes 4, I now have spares). The added length helps them double as pot stirrers and makes eating dehydrated meals directly out of the pouch less messy on your hands...in case you're a fan of dehydrated meal pouches like mountain house, etc. After one season of moderate to heavy use, I have high hopes for their longevity. Recommend.

I was a little worried at first, as they feel a little flimsy. My first trip with them was for 4 people, 3 nights of backpacking on an island. We purchased a large heavy-duty raft to cross a portion of Lake Superior, and so we were pretty strapped on room. I was a little worried that they might break in my very tightly packed 75L pack. They resisted heat pretty well, and they only felt flimsy as it seems they were designed for some flexibility in these types of events. They did bend a little with some weight in areas that certainly shouldn't, but try scooping out some partially frozen food with a metal spoon and you may likely experience the same fear that your only eating utensil might break. Overall I was impressed in its performance, despite my initial concerns. I wouldn't want to camp with more than 4 people, so this set was perfect for my needs and exceeded my expectations. i would recommend this product for similar-minded and interested people.

I approve

Typically there's not much to say about a spork, but in the case of this 4 piece set by MSR, I'll make an exception. I just got done testing one of these in a MH meal (sweet & sour pork with rice, to be specific), and here's what I've found: Quality. Considering the material these are made of, I was concerned that these sporks might weaken if the food it was in was steaming hot. As it turns out, that wasn't the case. From stirring to serving, I couldn't feel the overall structure of the spork becoming weakened by the heat. Definitely a plus as nobody wants to eat with a flimsy utensil. Overall, it felt very sturdy in hand: No signs of excessive bending. No signs of the hinge breaking/failing either. Ultimately feels very well designed for what it is. On the flip side, every product has its limitations, so here is what I've found to be a potential drawback. Since it's not made of metal of any sort, it will become more flexible under high heat (steaming hot water from the faucet for example). Upon rinsing the spork with very hot water, it developed (temporarily of course) extra flexibility. While washing this utensil, that's not really a problem, but it does give me an idea as to how it may perform if you're stirring something thick like chili while it's cooking. For that type of task, I wouldn't recommend this spork for the job. For eating though, it's perfectly fine. Another aspect I'd like to make note of is the overall length. At 8 inches long, it's the perfect size for digging into dehydrated meal pouches without getting your fist in the bag, or having to cut the pouch down to size to gain easier access to the food bits in the bottom/corners. Lastly, I'd like to make note of the weight. Now, I'm not really familiar with the aluminum or titanium sporks' typical weight, so I can't make a direct comparison. I can say this much though: Each of these sporks weigh in at a mere 9 grams (0.3 oz). Works for me, and light enough that I can carry spares in my pack without adding hardly any weight at all.
