These are some really nice looking grills. If you are just looking for protection there are cheaper options. If you like red and want something that looks great while protecting an exposed speaker these are great. Be sure your mounting surface is level/smooth as the rings are plastic and will be unforgiving if you try tightening them flush to an otherwise uneven surface. Good product. Good value.
So the grill mesh quality is fine but the fact the retainer does not have a recess for the grill is puzzling. This mesh is not and cannot be attached to the retainer ring. When the mesh is inserted into the retainer the ring sits high. I foresee this being frustrating unless you have use for the ring separately or the mesh separately. I found the ring to also be warped so it doesnt sit flat even without trying to insert the mesh.
These are close to a perfect fit on the original Mk1 JBL 305 speakers. Mostly just bc I wanted to protect the woofers from animal or other damage, but also 'fancied them up' a bit! Pretty much a simple drop in - lay on it's back (propped up), remove screws, place new surround and grille on, reinstall (original) screws. Done. I have not exhaustively tested these for noise or buzzing, or other possible effects, but at normal/loud levels I cannot tell any difference. Kind of the finishing touch the 305s needed. Nice, simple, cheap.
