I have always kept a small assortment of the name brand parts on hand and have used them for a variety of purposes. They are handy and if you get creative you can mount almost anything on almost anything else. The attached photo shows both the name brand and the Keuvirya brand items of similar style parts. As for the build quality of the main body of both the bases and the arm, I would say they are identical. The metal quality and thickness are indistinguishable. The only slight difference was in the area of the screw area on the arm which has a slightly reduced diameter but added reinforcing ribs. Strength is likely very close since with the ribs they are both about the same size. One minor difference is likely only appearance. The Keuvirya has a silvered bolt and washer where the name brand has black, but it does appear to be good quality hardware. Another minor difference that may be important in some uses is the lack of a spring in the Keuvirya arm. The spring on the name brand automatically opens off one ball as the screw is loosened, and the arm stays attached to the other ball by the same spring pressure. Nice when swapping out the item attached to the arm. No spring means you need to hold the one end on manually in the same situation. The one area where the Keuvirya comes up slightly short is in the quality of the coating on the ball itself. The name brand has a firm rubber coating which prevents slippage between the ball and the arm even under fairly high loads. The coating on the Keuvirya ball seems to be the same paint or powder coat as the rest of the metal parts. It seems reasonably durable and gives a firm hold when new and there's a bit of texture still on the coating. But once it wears and it's smooth metal against smooth metal, it may have a tendency to slip. But only time will answer that question. I wish there were a way to do 4.5 stars because the lack of the spring and rubberish coating on the ball will likely have minimal effect in most uses. But those shortcomings, if you do need them, prevent it from being 5 stars.
