I've seen these metal scrubbing tools before but never purchased one despite having multiple cast iron cookware. I have a griddle, 8in and two 10in pans. I'm not a purist and and have no problems with a good soap cleaning when needed. I have even scoured down to base on my grandma's inherited skillet because it had so much patchy rust I just needed to start over. So while not an expert, definitely not a novice either on various cast iron stripping/cleaning and honestly I tend to be more aggressive leaning. Apparently, a metal scrubber preserves the coating and cleans with just hot water. Well, I'm up to try that. More often I have seen the metal rags which on one hand seem more flexible but on the other, might be a little harsh on the hands. This one incorporates a handle that fits into my smaller grip plus a weighted, sturdy base that keeps the mesh in contact with the cleaning surface. I attached photos to show the size comparisons between the scrubber and my skillets. It cleaned well on my pansI only had frying grease and grit to clean out. It didn't remove any seasoning or create gouges or other damage. I had some rust on the bottom which this didn't seem to have much effect on so not sure if this would remove any stubborn stuck on bits. The chainmail is very smooth so I don't know if it would be effective on thin crusting which needs a good abrasive. It seems well made with the chain and links looking professionally produced. It is secured around the handle so it won't slip around. Debris did get caught up between the mesh and the silicone which some dish soap and a brush took care of. The package also included a silicone pan scraper which is handy. I have a few others that are super helpful to scrape down burned bits without scratching the cookware surface. Supposedly you could use this on other metal (like stainless) cookware but I am uncertain how much it might scratch. I find my non scratch dual sided sponges work just fine for those. But, this might also be perfectly find for glassware. I was hoping to use this on our stainless drink cups as I saw a tip on a metal rag review. My husband drinks coffee out of his mug which leaves a bit of discoloration inside. I read reviews saying to swirl a metal dishcloth down in the cup and it would remove the coloring. Well, I thought perhaps this might sit down in the cup and I could just spin it around for the same effect but the base was too large. His tumbler is the 22oz. Now it might fit into those larger 44oz or whatnot sized cups, at least partway, but we don't use those for coffee.

I love this scrubber for my cast iron. Cheap and works well.

Solid, sturdy tool.

I'm reviewing Purgreat Chainmail 316 Cast Iron Scrubber, Black, 03. I use cast iron for most of our cooking, but it's not always easy to clean. This handy tool makes it easier. This chainmail cast iron scrubber has a nice weight to it, and the size and shape of the handle makes it easy to grasp and control. The rounded edges help it get into the rounded edges of my cast iron pans with ease. I like that the chainmail is wrapped around a silicone base which makes it easy to control. It did a good job cleaning my cast iron skillet that I used to brown chicken then sauted onions and zucchini. As you can see in the photo, it had lots of stuck on bits. This chainmail scrubber took care of those bits with less effort than the green fiber scrubbie I had been using. I just added hot water to the cooled off pan, scrubbed, then rinsed and dried. I don't use soap on my cast iron and prefer not to soak it. With my other scrubber, I had to do some soaking to loosen the stuck bits of food, which isn't great for the baked on finish. I found after several uses, that I no longer need to do any soaking using the chainmail. It's tough enough to remove any stuck on food without damaging the finish. There's also a hard plastic scraper included. I didn't use it on my cast iron, but it will be great to use on my stove top. I like the dark grey color, which goes well with my kitchen decor. I find the current price of $12.49 after applying the 30% coupon to be reasonable.

We use a lot of cast-iron pans, especially when we are camping, which is often. We have always debated on the easiest, and best, way to clean our cast-iron. It was always one of those issues that we just didnt know how to answer. Then when I saw this cast-iron scrubber online, I knew that this was something that we needed to get. What is so great about this cast iron scrubber is that it has chainmal on the bottom and around the sides. Ive never seen or had any chainmal objects before, but its pretty cool. It definitely cleans the cast-iron without hurting it, and whats even greater is that I can put the cast-iron scrubber in the dishwasher. It comes out of the dishwasher cleaned and ready for the next cleaning. I also like the fact that the chainmal metal scrubber has an ergonomic handle so that it doesnt hurt my hand or wrist during and after using it. I love the fact that my cast-iron scrubber is made of 316 stainless steel, plus the silicone makes me feel a lot better about knowing its going to do a good job now and in the future. I have learned that 316 stainless steel is a healthier and sturdier form of stainless steel. One thing that I didnt realize is that this cast-iron scrubber is handmade. When I look at the quality, and how easy it is to clean with, I can see that somebody took a lot of time, care, and love to put this together. My cast iron scrubber also came with a bonus pan scraper, which is really handy. I have had versions of these before and they are a really handy. It is also made of silicone. I sure got a great deal when I found this cast iron scrubber. Its very easy to use, and to clean. And I always love getting a bonus gift of the silicone scraper.
