This set of charcoal pencils is great for the price. I specifically chose it for the inclusion of a white pencil. Additionally, it comes with a variety of blending stumps and an eraser. The pencils are of high quality and feel comfortable in my hand. They perform as I anticipated. In summary, this set perfectly suits my recreational drawing needs.

This Brusarth Charcoal Drawing Set -12 pcs is an affordable starter set, though you will need to purchase a sharpener & paper separately. I mainly wanted to try this particular set, because it includes a charcoal pencil in WHITE. Sometimes other sets say they include one, but they turn out to be more like a colored pencil then a charcoal one. This one feels & blends exactly how a charcoal pencil should versus a waxy colored pencil. I tried it out on a dark green notebook cover as an example, though sorry for the mediocre sketch since I'm super out of practice (but hopefully you can at least sense the texture of the charcoal pencil). The black ones come in EX-SOFT (2), SOFT (2), MED (1) & HARD (1), along with an Eraser Pencil & #2-#5 blenders. (Kind of wish the white also came in different softness/hardness, so I'll keep searching for a set that has those. But anyway, you can do a lot with even a single pencil, depending on how hard or softly you draw with it.)

I used to draw back in high school so I decided to restart my drawing hobby by getting this set. The set of 12 pencils is great for beginners who are just starting to explore their artistic side. These pencils are definitely not the best charcoal pencils that I have used but for the price, it is definitely a good buy.

This set of charcoal pencils from Brusarth is a good value for what you get and is a great place to start if you have never drawn with charcoal pencils before. Before I launch into this, make sure you have a very good, SHARP pencil sharpener. I'm talking one of the tiny handheld sharpeners that is solid metal and made in Germany (Mobius and Rupert is the brand you're seeking). This will save you time, aggravation, and ultimately $ because they don't break the tips of the pencils during sharpening. These charcoal pencils act as I expect they should. The X soft and soft pencils make the blackest black, are easiest to draw with, and blend very easily. The medium is still fairly easy to use and blend but can easily indent the paper when trying to get a dark black. The hard is like drawing with a 2H or so pencil and is barely blendable. I could see that this would be best used for fine detail. The white charcoal pencil is a very cool white so be prepared for this if your paper is warm. The eraser is not so much for erasing out the charcoal in the center of your drawing (i.e. I could not make the highlight on the spheres by erasing charcoal with this eraser pencil) but is more for touching up the edges. It did great to clean up the edges of the spheres on the X soft, soft, and medium. The hard was not quite as easily cleaned by the eraser. That's it! This is a good set and acts as I anticipated it would.

My son loves to cartoon and do art sketching. I was wanting to upgrade him past just regular pencils. This set is great! I love the range of pencils included. They all wrote well and are easy to grip. Very pleased!
