Doodles are great and our golden doodle is no exception. But the blending of the breeds can create some grooming challenges. In our case, my golden doodle favors the poodle side of the mixed gene pool which means his primary coat grows like hair instead of fur. This cuts down on some of the shedding (yes... doodles shed) but the trade off is that he needs regular grooming and clipping. The additional challenge is a fine undercoat that he got from the golden retriever side of the gene pool. Depending upon how long it's been between groomings, that undercoat can become knoted and tangled... and all of them have to be removed before he can be clipped. This ShinyDew deshedding brush makes short work of those knots and tangles. It has two sides: You use the 9-tooth side to remove knots and tangles then use the 17-tooth side to remove any loose fur/hair. The key - as with any grooming - is to be deliberate but gentle as you work the brush thru the coat. If you encounter an especially knotted or tangled section, ease up a bit and "tease' them out rather than just pulling hard. The included steel comb is a nice bonus as it allows you to easily confirm all knots and tangles have been removed before clipping.

It is easy to use and my dog seems to enjoy the "massage" vs. teeth of a traditional comb/brush. I was really surprised how much undercoat is removed with this "rake" comb/brush from our "no-shed" breed. We don't usually get near as much fur as quickly with our wire brush as we did with this brush so we were quite surprised at how much undercoat was removed. I thought this style of brush/comb would hurt but I was wrong.

If you know cattle dogs, or heelers as they are also called, then you know that they shed like BONKERS, 24/7/365. We have three of these dogs in our house and I swear I vacuum up an entire dog's worth of hair off of the floor and furniture every week, so I thought I would give this tool a try. I was surprised how quickly it pulls the undercoat fur up and out! I had to start with the 9 teeth side, since it wouldn't go through right away with the 17 teeth side. Once I was able to do a pass easily with the 9 teeth side, then I switched to the 17 teeth side. By the time of was done, there was a big pile of undercoat, several handfuls! It was quite impressive. I have to say, my dog wasn't a fan of being brushed with this though. Now, we don't usually brush them so that might be part of it, but it did seem to make him a little uncomfortable even though I was going slow and being careful. It still seemed to pull at his coat a bit, which is probably part of it. Hopefully he gets used to it and starts to enjoy it. He definitely feels like he has WAY less hair. His sister (my husbands dog) was not nearly as tolerant of this tool and kept squirming away. Guess I'll try to work with her more too, it will be worth it to not have so much hair all over our house. I would definitely recommend this for any dog that has a double coat, especially those who live inside. Price is very reasonable. Comes with a comb, but I doubt I'll use that, their hair really isn't that long, just very thick.

I collected a whole trash bag of hair from my husky and it was so quickly and easy with this it took out so much undercoat and fur with ease for my pups and the comb helped out nicely on those little bit harder areas. It was easy my pups were happy and made a huge difference
