This pair of Herda Food Grade Mineral Oil & Wax Applicators are shaped nicely so they fit comfortably in your hand. Theyre a much nicer way to apply wax, polish or oil to wood than just a rag. I have some thick wood wax, and this worked well for smoothing it out on some wood furniture I have, along with trim and molding. The foam part is a bit synthetic and stiff, which actually works well because it doesnt absorb too much of the wax or oil. Thats the problem with using a rag to apply it tends to soak up too much of the product. The best procedure I found was to apply the wax with this applicator, then afterward buff it with a rag for the final shine. Nice that they included little spatulas, too, especially if youre scooping wax out of a small container. Useful product.

I wasn't sure what to think of these. They are turned from laminated wood and are fine. But I don't really feel the open cell foam is very good for applying mineral oil compared to a soft cloth. It does keep your hands a bit cleaner. Even so I'm just going to use a cloth.

First use the product and I became initially skeptical - the synthetic sponge material I felt carried a bit too much oil and didn't let you have a granular job of spreading it around. However, this was on me because as I used it more and more, it definitely does a superb job of spreading. I find that I actually get more mileage with less mineral oil with these, but it simply takes a bit more time to rub it in. However, the control with this applicator is fantastic. The fact that you can actually push the sponge inwards into the handle means you can really work around beveled edges and corners without getting your hands gross with oil. If I have any complaints with this, it's simply that I don't need two of them. But I'll gift the other set to a friend and they'll be very pleased with it!

I got these as an alternative to brushes, and they work well depending on what application you are using them for. They work well on flat surfaces.

Works great for applying oil to wood surfaces. I have cutting boards and a large wood stove top cover that needs to be oiled and this works great for those large surfaces. The nice, wood handles are easy to hold to. The spatula can spread the oil thin over the surface and then I can go over it with this to get it into the surface, corners, grooves, etc. The open cells hold oil so you don't need that much and I just press down to disperse the oil in the cells. Keeps my hands clean and I don't lose a lot of oil in a cloth. I didn't need two, but I can see where someone might if they use two different types of oil or wax for different wood surfaces. You might even be able to stipple paint with these.
