Mostly I get my dried mushroom in local Asian store. At $10 for the amount in this packet is expensive But when I made my Hot and Sour realized that these Shitake has more freshness. Mushroom was well packaged. If you are making Dry Mushroom veggies soaking up 20 mins in hot water is essential but if you doing hot pot, or soup , it gets rehydrated as you are boiling it.

These are some delicious tasting shiitake mushrooms. After soaking them in water for a bit they stop being dried out and they can easily be sauteed. They taste so good that way. They can be added to a lot of different dishes to add some powerful taste and nutrients. Shiitake mushrooms are full of nutrients. I recommend reading about their benefits, there's a lot of interesting information. I don't know how well the nutrients have held up in these. But I've read that although drying mushrooms can reduce the nutrient content, generally the majority of nutrients remain at slightly lower amounts than if the mushrooms were fresh. Anyway, the convenience of these dried mushrooms is worth the tradeoff of having slightly less nutrition than fresh/wet mushrooms.

This dried mushroom was really versatile as I used it to make some noodles or add some mushrooms to any dish that I like. It provided a nice umami saltiness taste to it and also add some earthiness as well. I like the chewiness of the mushroom as it absorbs the flavors of the sauce or broth, and I found it to be an excellent value For money. It was pretty high-quality and snowed great and the softness of the mushroom really elevated the flavors for me

I hunt wild mushrooms during the colder seasoning where I live and I spent all summer thinking about when I can get back out to the woods. Dried mushrooms are never the same in texture and rarely the same in flavor when dried. Not all mushrooms handle drying well. These mushrooms were perfect for drying and all of them are the appropriate amount of 'snappy'. If you're not familiar with them, my favorite way to use them is to season them by powdering them in a spice grinder. When I'm lazy, I'll just add them directly to soups, stocks,rice while it cooks, sauces, anything. They do not add a super mushroom flavor so much as an umami flavor. It really takes a standard broth to a gourmet level. These got five stars from me for being accurately described and well packaged, flavorful, and the real kicker: NO DEBRIS! SO SO often do dried mushrooms come with half the growth medium or forest floor. Theres just like a mentally accepted amount of "other" dried stuff. None in this. Literally none. Excellent product.

I had an opportunity to try the 4 oz. Bag of MARKY'S Dried Whole Shiitake Mushrooms. I usually like all kinds of mushrooms but I found these to be extra chewy. There are no instructions. I used them in a sauce and simmered them for at least 30 minutes and they were still chewy. Maybe if you rehydrate them in water for awhile before cooking they might be good? The bag says they have a shelf life of 12 months. I ordered them in May and they are only good through November so for me, they have a six month shelf life. I dont like that they contain sulfites and there is a warning on the bag that they may contain mercury. I think they are expensive at $11 for 4 oz. at the time of this review. I would not order again.
