Not Right for Me

Cages have brought a real proliferation of clamps that allow us to hang accessories on a camera like handles, microphones, monitors and so forth. This is a nice well-machined connector to a NATO rail. On the opposite side from the rail clamp are inch and 3/8 screw holes for mounting a device with an ARRI clamp. (It may be unnecessary if your NATO rail already has an ARRI mounting slot where you need it.) In my case the right side of the cage was configured as a NATO rail but had no ARRI mounting slot. I first tried a gadget that allows a flash to be attached with a inch screw ARRI rail and it fit perfectly. I then wanted to mount a handle with a 3/8 screw ARRI mount on the side of the camera and cage. The ARRI locating pins on this handle are at a right angle to the handle, i.e., parallel to the ground. Although there were six pin holes around the 3/8 fitting, there were none parallel to the ground and I could not mount the handle. This clamp may be useful to some people who dont require a 3/8 ARRI mount with locating pins parallel to the ground. It was not useful to me. Too bad, because it is nicely made

NATO Clamp

A nice and small clamp--I never know when I'm going to need to attach something to my gear. NATO is a standard type attachment style, and this clamp works great and has a few screw points for various attachments. Handy for those unforeseen circumstances.

Nice quality but two things to be aware of

This is a good NATO clamp release, but you have to make sure the locating pins of what you are attaching are pretty short. The ones I tried to use with this handle are a little too long and so it will not completely tighten to the clamp. I don't have a lot of parts with locating pins, so I could not test it on others. But you can see in the pictures that the locating pin holes are pretty shallow. Second, when you tighten the clamp, in my case it put the tip of the thumbscrew really close to some of my controls, so this might end up being in the way. I like the black and gold, although if you are one to keep the same color-scheme on all you accessories, it may have been nicer if they had a standard red or silver available.

Nicely made adapter.

This is a quick way to add 1/4" and 3/8" threads with ARRI locating pin holes to nato/pic rail. It feels sturdy and well machined. The surface finish is good. It clamps onto a rail quickly and my monitor mount threaded on perfectly. It's doing exactly what I wanted it to do, without any problems. Zero complaints.

Solid clamp, nicely anodized.

This clamp feels really solid and clamps well. The edges are nicely rounded and smooth. The anodization (the coloring) is really nice and uniform. Great find!
