Much larger than a typical sponge and not nearly as pliable to conform to the surface you are using it on (at least not until you pull some layers off). Probably not ideal on other projects that need some elbow grease. It is very absorbent, which is great! In terms of value, it seems to be a decent price for the product. I wasn't able to compare to similar items, as this product is very unique. Overall, recommend.

Normally i toss sponges after 2 weeks to a month to keep hygienic. For this one i been peeling a layer a week up to 4 layers and so far so good! My biggest concern is that bacteria will gather on the inner layers sooner so I will update if that happens. If no updates from this post you can assume it went all the way down to its final layer before being discarded and its worth its 5 stars!

I like the idea of just pulling off a layer when I need a new sponge. It was hard to pull off the layers though and I ended up breaking a nail.

I got this to use on the soap scum in our shower. I clean our shower regularly because we have very hard water and no water softener. So, this wasn't a monumental task. I usually use some Bar Keeper's Friend with a regular sponge. The regular sponge had started to fall apart after a while of use, so thought this might be neat to try since I could peel back a layer once it got worn out. So, I tried using this new sponge with the cleanser and it doesn't work. All it did was smudge the soap scum rather than clean it up. It was really odd. With a regular sponge, it wipes right up with a tiny bit of elbow grease. I kept wiping and wiping and tried a lot of pressure with these, but it just kept smearing it rather than cleaning it.

This is an interesting idea. I like the idea of peeling off the layers as they get worn/dirty. So far it's early days, but it's working fine as a sponge. The colors are nice too - I like a bit of bright in the kitchen. The size is long which is new for me, but I'm not disliking it. I picks up excess water and moves solid debris around with no problems. I haven't yet peeled off a layer - I'm kind of looking forward to that! It's one of those sponges that is damp out of the package which is always a little off putting but it dries out and after getting wet it dries out in an appropriate amount of time. So far, so good. It's just a different type of sponge than I'm used to using. So it takes some getting used to. I kind of like the larger size - the length is much longer than any sponge I've had before. It's kind of nice. Like the limo of sponges!
