This is a nice kit to supplement beads you may already have, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are just starting out and are looking for a first kit of clay beads. I would find the colors limiting. There are a lot of other kits out there that give you more variety, so you can get really creative. There are no instructions with this kit, so it would be a challenge, unless you are already familiar with jewelry making. However, for those of us looking to add to our collection, this is a great set that has some good quality, consistent beads!

The smooth and easy-to-thread beads are consistent in quality throughout the kit. The well-made extras, like scissors and clasps, are also easy to use. I enjoy using this set with my daughter and we have been using it frequently since we got it. It includes everything a child or young teenager would need to get started, such as findings, scissors, beading line, and a nice selection of beads. The reasonable price makes it a low-risk purchase, as even if your child doesn't show interest, it won't be a big loss. It's hard to imagine any child not being interested in this fun and artistic activity.

My daughter and a group of her friends had an absolute blast making earrings and bracelets with this kit during my daughters birthday sleepover. The colors are fun and vibrant, there were a bunch of cute charms and so many ways to personalize their jewelry. This kit is really nice if you have made these kinds of bracelets before- but if you haven't you are kind of going in blind with how to attach the clasps and all since the kit didn't come with any kind of instructions. You will probably want to have some small jewelry pliers too because trying to manipulate the metal circles that connected the clasps (I for the life of me can't think of what those are actually called) with just my fingers tore my nails up and didn't get a good closure. I kind of go back and forth on how I feel about the string- it's slightly stretchy but not really- it reminds me of a more gummy fishing line. So with that it was also difficult to tie the bracelets off though I did enclose them in some of the clasp things. Which I'm not 100% that was what they were for but I guessed. So again great kit to start you off- but much better if you already know what you're doing!
