Super7 Conan The Barbarian Subotai - 3.75" Conan Action Figure with Accessories Classic Movie Collectibles and Retro Toys...

Super7 has made a name for themselves over the last decade or so by playing the nostalgia card and bringing us some great action figures from classic fantasy and film-lover favorite franchises. I picked up a Willow figurine they released in the past and was quite pleased with it, so when I saw they had a series for Conan as well, I couldn't help myself and picked up one or two. As expected the details on the Thulsa Doom figure is commendable while still being a bit plasticky because, well, they're intended to mimic the action figures that were released way back when the film first came out. These aren't intended to have the same level of articulation or detail as other collectible figures with 60 points of articulation or swappable heads and hands with custom poses. These figures are meant to recreate that sense of nostalgia you had as a kid when you'd rip open toy and toss everything but the toy...and yet, now it's being priced ($20 at the time of review) the way a collectible would, and that makes this a weird purchase. I really wouldn't recommend this as a toy pick-up for a regular kid unless you're a parent who grew up with the original film and you just want to share that love of the film with your own kid REALLY badly, because this figure is marked up to about twice what a figure from a modern franchise from a normal toy company would put out. ***Overall Value*** The price definitely puts this safely in the "intended as collectible" category and so if you're buying it for any other reason than putting it on a shelf for display purposes you're paying a bit more than most other action figures this size would cost.

This Thulsa Doom figure is incredible. The details are really good for a small action figure. The character is instantly recognizable for fans of the movie. The packaging is great and really looks like what it would have been if the figure had been released in the 80's. Now I just need a Conan.

Super7 is quickly becoming my favorite retro toy brand. Just the packaging itself screams 70s and 80s. The classic retro look is awesome and pays homage to toys of yesteryear. This one pays homage to one of the greatest films to come out in the 80s, Conan the Barbarian with Arnold as Conan and James Earl Jones as the evil antagonist. The likeness of the figure is outstanding, you can instantly tell that its JEJ under the helmet. I am not sure if I will ever open this box as I typically keep it in box on display...but a part of me is telling me to open it and play with it. Keep it up Super7! You guys are killing it with these awesome retro figurines!

As a kid during the advent of these 4 tall action figures during the 70s, classic movie figures have a place in my heart (and on my shelves). This Thulsa Doom reminds me of that era in both the figure and the property. I cant say Ive opened it, because as is I can almost imagine it being a period figure. Now, once you stop and read the packaging, you know its modern and is having some fun. But thats ok because Ive got Conan the Barbarian on my shelf!

If you've ever purchased a Reaction figure from Super7, you know the quality you can expect. This figure is no different. It has great color and details in its design. Really evokes James Earl Jones portrayal of Thulsa Doom from Conan the Barbarian. Great for any fan of the movie & 80s kids out there!
