Its a Willy wonka action figure. Nuff said. 5/5

As a fan of Gene Wilder, especially in this role of Willy Wonka, I was quite pleased to have a little figure in his likeness. The face sculpt is nicely detailed, resembling Wilder without looking like a weird 3D print of his face - very appropriate for the vintage look and feel Super7 aims to create in their figures. The clothes are accurate to the movie costume. His only accessory is his walking stick, but thats all this Wonka needs. I doubt I will keep him in his packaging - Im definitely a play and pose kind of toy owner - but I like that the card is designed to look like a giant Wonka bar. The cardboard arrived i perfect condition and it looks pretty good on display.

If you are like many of us, it almost doesn't matter what decade you were born in, excluding the last two, you at one point loved Willie Wonka. Of course, if you didn't love Willie Wonka, you wouldn't be reading this review. Although, I'm in my 40's now and I only picked this up as a collector item. It arrived not bent at all, plastic perfectly in place, the hanging tab still in the cardboard, and just true nostalgia in the overall packaging. Personally, there is nothing like the original film. I don't care, if the Charlie movie followed the book or not. The writer needs to correct the book, like the film from the 70's. LOL That's my opinion about it. Now, if we could only get a real golden ticket or a winning lottery ticket will work!

Giftable old-school action figure for kids of a certain age. As cynical as I usually am about cashing in on nostalgia, Super7 seems to have a knack for understanding the properties they're licensing and targeting underserved fandoms. Their "Reaction Figures" pay homage to the old Kenner Star Wars action figures = simple plastic figures with unfussy designs, basic movement at the shoulder and hip, and an accessory (usually a weapon) that sort-of-but-doesn't-really fit in the figure's hands. Which is exactly what they've done with Willy Wonka. Simple model is easily recognizable as Gene Wilder. No removable coat or hat - it's all one piece - with his cane as the included accessory. It's not a recreation of some vintage figure - I can't imagine there ever was such a thing. It's a reimagining of what a Willy Wonka figure might have looked like in the mid-70s. Making the box look like a Wonka bar is a nice touch. But you're paying a premium for the nostalgia, and also dealing with a lot of the same hassles that go along with any collectible: limited runs, artificial scarcity, insider pre-orders etc. At $12 this would be a five-star product.

These ReAction figures have a wonderful vintage look and feel. I have a few figures from Super 7 in various collections and none have ever disappointed. One annoyance with all of these figures has been consistent with every Super 7 figure I have purchased. The card stock is always warped. The grade of paper used in the cardboard and the overall size of the backing card is just too large and no matter how well they come packed the card is always warped at the top. I have been able to straighten some of the cards I wanted to be in perfect condition and left others. But honestly, as a collector, this can be very annoying. However, beyond the single annoyance list above, the figures are molded with a high level of detail, fully licensed, and just an overall great nostalgia trip. In this collection, Wonka doesn't look as much like Gene Wilder as the other 2 released figures look like their human actor. It is still a fun figure that reminds you of going to KB Toys in the early to mid-1980s and digging through a freshly opened shipment box for that missing figure from your collection. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves collecting figures such as these or that person in your life who is a huge fan of the 70s and 80s Kenner and Mattel action figures.
