Apparently a large number of people suffer from a deficiency in Vitamin D. Whether that is due to increased time indoors or just not getting enough sunlight. Some illnesses such as diabetes can be worsened if you have low vitamin D levels. I've been taking a supplement for years and whenever I have any bloodwork my levels are in the healthy range. VAL Supplements are known more for their Magnesium products but I'm glad to see them branching out. These are produced in the USA and the capsules have no apparent taste or smell. That makes them easier to swallow. These are 5000 IU capsules providing more enough of your recommended daily D3. They also contain Vitamin K2 which is being researched for bone density and heart health benefits. If you are on blood thinners then I would check with your doctor before taking these as Vitamin K2 aids in clotting. I'm happy with these capsules. I did try to find a US based address for VAL and was unsuccessful. They do have a website and a Facebook page with contact information.

These are two important nutrients that should be taken together. The VAL product makes it easy to do so. The 5,000 IUs is a fairly high dose of Vitamin D3. It is a good idea to check and see how much Vitamin D3 is contained in any other supplements being consumed, for example, multivitamins or calcium supplements. Also, as with any supplement, talk to your doctor, and ask to have your vitamin D levels checked. This is a very simple and inexpensive blood test that can be done easily with any other lab work. Because Vitamin D has gotten a lot of attention since the Covid pandemic, I have found that many doctors agree readily to order this simple test. This is a great product, reasonably priced, and I recommend it.

This D3 K2 supplement does add convenience for those who take both vitamins, however it is definitely on the pricier side for these vitamins. It is made in the USA, but neither the bottle nor the product listing mentioned cGMP, NSF or third party testing. That being said it took me about 5 seconds searching ZeeBooth to find cheaper alternatives that met at least one if not all of these criteria so I cannot recommend this brand over others.

This bottle comes about 50% full. I like VAL Essentials, but this is one of my pet peeves with supplement companies. If used as directed, the bottle will last three months. I would prefer they add another month or use a smaller bottle. The expiration date on my bottle is Apr 2027, so a little less than three years from now. There is a very light scent and taste to these, and they are easy to swallow with water. I like my supplement bottles to say organic, non-GMO, GMP-certified, 3rd-party tested, and Made in USA. This says non-GMO and Made in the USA. The product page says 3rd-party tested. I look into the supplement companies I use because I've come across so many shady ones. The bottle says they have been in business 25 years, and the valsupplements site (you have to type it as it is on the bottle to get there) is functional and quite informative. I thought I had seen a phone number on their site in the past - something I always look for - but now I just see a contact page and chat feature. At least on Google Maps you can look up the distributor name that's on the bottle and get a number there. The main thing for me is established and transparent about who they are and the quality of their products, and you can get that with VAL. I seem to take longer than most to see results when starting a new supplement, but knowing I'm getting quality products (I'm still waiting for them to lose the fillers - most companies say they need them, but the highest quality ones I know of won't use them), from an established company, and at a good price!
