For the category of humble disposable plastic gel pens, these are surprisingly well-made. After the initial enamored reaction of the pretty coloring of purple and metallic silver, the feel of the pen is also a nice experience. Instead of the typical slick plastic feel, these have a subtle rubber texture that is catching on to fancier plastic products nowadays. It's not hard plastic, but not exactly soft gel-like either. It's a very subtle softness and non-slip feel that is a pleasure to hold and write with. The ink is also pretty as advertised on the darker side of purple, which is perfect for writing. Anything lighter would risk losing legibility on paper. The point is states as 0.7mm fine point. I find it slightly thicker than some other manufacturers' idea of a fine point is. Unfortunately, there is a lot of variances even within the "0.7mm fine point" category among different pen manufacturers. However, it is definitely finer than a 0.7mm medium or a 1.0mm rating. Each new pen has a small wax coating on the pen's tip to keep the ink from drying during storage. Just pry it off with fingernails before using. These pens are pretty to use and always seem to make me smile a little whenever I reach for them and hold in my fingers a few seconds before proceeding to write with them.

What I don't like as much: * The ink will tend to smear if it gets wet. This would make me a little uncomfortable if I found it necessary to write a check or sign a document with a pen from this set. All in all, as I have other high-quality pens for document signing, I do find this pen set to be a good value. A 12-pack for the super low price of $9.99 is definitely worth it. If you do a lot of writing, working puzzles, crosswords, or note-taking, the "Writon Retractable Gel Pens" should work well for you!

These pens come with a little plastic tip protector, so pop that off before using - they pop right off. I picked up thee purpose pens because I like to write in color ink, no specific purpose, just a change of pace from black or blue ink. I do not write out huge essays or projects, but when I am running through ideas for projects, I like to note my ideas and map them out as I am working up a project, like a video I want to make about something... I write out lists of things I need to make sue I require, places I need to visit in the process, and make sure I am well aware of the requirements for the entire shoot (video). This is where I get inspired in what I do... and writing things down on paper first, allows me to experiment with a variety of pathways to get to the end result. I just find that it helps, and purple just seemed to me to be a perfect color shade whilst working my mind through project planning before I get back onto the computer to reduce it all down to final tasks and lists. I love how smooth these pens write. Five Stars!

I like the feel of these pens - there is a matte rubbery coating on the entire pen that isn't a cushiony foam, but it does make the pen easy to hold without needing to grip it tightly. It also makes it very comfortable to write with for long periods of time. The pens come with a little wax ball on the tip of the refill that keeps the ink from leaking or drying out in shipping. I was able to pull the ball off with my fingers with no trouble. I do like the way these pens write. The ink flows smoothly from the slightly finer 0.7 mm tip and didn't make blots or blobs when I paused in the middle of each loop as shown in my photo. The ink is purple but a really deep dark purple. You have to be paying attention to the ink color to notice that it is purple. It is so dark that it is very easy to read. The pen itself is an attractive lighter and brighter purple color. Excellent gel pens that operate smoothly and have metal clips that are flexible but strong. Definitely rate 5 stars!
