Zebra Mechanical Pencil, Del Guard, 0.5mm, Red (P-MA86-R)...

I liked that it was nice to hold in the hand. writing with the pencil feels good and the quality is worth the money.

I like this mechanical pen but I had buy Mr. Pen rubber grip in order to fell it comfortable and after thia mod the pencil fells great.

After trying out several different mechanical pencils. I like the color, I like the .5 lead. I like the Delguard feature, but for some reason, this particular pencil is SO MUCH HEAVIER than the regular black Zebra Delguard pencil. I'm guessing it's the silver barrel your finger tips hold onto when writing. Just not the right fit for me. Too Heavy and fatigue's my hand when using.

When it comes to the more esoteric stuff, rather than the basic models, this is one of the coolest and most functional mechanical pencils that I own. There are quite a few gimmicky lead protection systems out there, but Zebra has really got something unique and special here. In addition to absorbing direct downward pressure, much like early versions of the Platinum "OLEeNu" (see here: Platinum OLEeNu High Grade Lead Breakage Prevention Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - Blue Body (japan import) ), the Zebra Del Guard also tackles side pressure. This works by means of the floating tip sliding outward to cover more of the exposed lead, behaving somewhat like the guide pipes that are not becoming more common on mechanical pencils. The end result is, in all honesty, one the the most difficult pencils with which to actually break leads. You really have to put effort into it to snap off a bit of lead when writing with this, and I feel like that's a testament to how well the system works. I had my initial doubts, and made the purchase probably 80% on the looks of the pencil alone (let's be honest, it is quite sporty!), but the mechanics are what really keep me coming back to it. The design is elegant and surprisingly effective, and all without widening the barrel of pencil anymore than your typical metal grip model. This one checks all the boxes for me, from looks to fit and finish, to balance in the hand and, most importantly, the lead you end up saving. An all around beautiful piece, and one of my favorites to write with. If I can't decide what I'm going to use, this one is always a safe bet and never disappoints. Highly recommended!

WOW! This Mechanical Pencil is The Best! In my side by side comparison with my old Mechanical Pencil The Zebra Mechanical Pencil Delguard Type Lx was the big winner. It has a good weight and it feels good in your hand but it isn't heavy. The big test was how the lead felt as I drew. The Zebra glided over the paper and let my hand flow. The other mechanical pencils I have feel like the lead catches on the paper and the flow is nowhere. I'll never go back to cheap pencils from the stationary store. This Zebra Mechanical Pencil is The BEST!
