I was very happy to find these... I make little reference guides around my digitizing lab, and it is amazing how a normal 3-ring binder can dominate a space (double-width lay flat, and CLUNKY). I sometimes use the binder-clamp type with flexible covers, but they don't behave well when there is a lot of paper and they can get away from you when swapping pages. These things are cool, and the fact that you can flip the cover all the way around and hold it like a tablet is a huge plus. This has now become my primary "procedures" binder with edge-reinforced quadrille sheets (got the D-ring style to make it as even as possible - worth the extra buck over the round ring flavor). The only caveat, and it is a minor one, is that if you are a few pages in and just close it, the pages to the left can get captured between the rings and the holes. It's not a huge issue -- just remember to flip all the pages over to the right side before closing the cover. Five stars despite that... Normal 3-ring binders are better for documentation libraries on the shelf (easy spine titles) but for something that you're always handling in a tight workspace, these are a delight... non-bulky, and EASY to lay flat with the cover all the way around to the back. UPDATE: I continue to like and use this daily for system documentation notes, but it is worth adding a comment. When open to the front page, the cover can flip all the way around and it closes in one motion, but if you are in the middle of a group of pages you FIRST have to return them to the same stack. So that feature depends on your use case. Still, it is much lower profile than a normal 3-ring binder, and lays more flat (except the rings, of course).

The design of the binder provides maximum Flexibility, The rings protrude through the front cover so that the thickness conforms to the thickness of the contents from 1/2 " to 1 1/2". I combined the binder with 3 ring plastic folders with inside pockets to complete the ultimate compact presentation binder.

This binder is so handsome and professional looking that, after receiving this one, despite a few reservations, I am definitely going to order a few more. I ordered this specifically to collect and coordinate my tax and income preparation paperwork. In the past I prepared for tax day in a hodgepodge method of putting papers in piles and envelopes and drawers and hoping to have everything ready when the taxmans date cometh. Now I just put everything into this binder in an orderly fashion as the year moves on and the papers come in. When time for tax prep arrives, I have everything neatly on hand. With a smaller profile than most three-ring binders, this one is still widely expandable and should still be big enough for just about any of your needs such as schoolwork, professional papers, tax prep, hobbies, family records, etc. According to the product page information, the binder will expand to hold up to 160 pages. Because of its design, it will lay as flat as possible (depending upon the number of pages inside at the time) with only the height of the 3 rings keeping it from being completely flat. The very thin flexible binder is composed of an attractive black plastic and has a full page-sized clear plastic pocket on the front so that you can customize it to fit your wants or needs and to make it clearly identifiable. Additionally, there is also a clear half pocket on the inside to further customize or to store material than needs to be easily identifiable (they call it a catalog pocket). The front cover can fold all the way back to make it easy to write when a solid platform is not available. You also get a convenient slot in which you can store a pen so that you dont have to constantly search for a writing utensil every time you want to write something down. Of course, at this relatively low price point, you are not going to get a lot of extras, for instance there are no pockets or extra slots in which to store less than full page sized materials. You dont receive any pages, dividers or tabs with this binder but that is made clear in the description and shouldnt be held against the product. In short, this is a very utilitarian binder that doesnt take up much space but does expand as you need it to do. At 11.4 x 10.4 x 0.39 it is perfect for storing and organizing regular 8.5x11 pages and to keep your affairs in order.
