1.3 mm Mechanical Pencil Yellow Weatherproof...

Ok, I used that to describe another mechanical pencil sold by a company that sells weather proof paper and writing instruments. I decided to purchase this and one of 'theirs' for comparison. They appear to be identical in every regard. This one is a couple of $$ more but you receive a pack of extra leads and an extra eraser that 'their's' doesn't include. Both use 1.3mm lead and I switched the erasers, which are identical and fit identically in the tops of the pencils. Both pencils are heavy af with a rubbery feeling metallic grip. If it weren't for the color of this one being yellow and the other an olive drab I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Both are solid with smooth mechanical function and seem built to last.

I bought this pencil and then tried to cancel it to buy the right in the rain version of it but I was unable to cancel it I actually got the right in the rain one after this and this pencil is actually better it's a lot like the bic mechanical pencil but in metal.

I'm not a huge fan of mechanical pencils because the leads break too easily and when the lead gets too short it doesn't stay in place and you end up wasting 30% of the lead's starting length. This pencil from U-RIGHT (get it? "you write"), model UR1086, comes in a hinged metal case that ZeeBooth unhelpfully packed at the edge of a large box full of other stuff, so when I received it there were dents in it that make it hard to open. The pencil is well protected inside cut foam, along with a case of 12 spare leads and two extra erasers. U-RIGHT solve my first gripe with their 1.3 mm lead diameter. This thing is THICK. Even at this thickness it will still make a reasonably precise streak. As to the second complaint, these leads are 120 mm (4 3/4") long, so I'm not too worried about losing that last half inch. On other pencils with shorter leads a half inch is a significantly greater percentage of the overall lead, but on this one it doesn't matter as much. The pencil has a nice heft and is weighted toward the writing end. The knurled metal barrel is well-placed for the way I handle the pencil. There is metal pocket clip attached to the plastic barrel should you choose to "wear" this pencil. Replacement leads are available on ZeeBooth, but I couldn't find replacement erasers that looked like they would work on this pencil. Once you consume these three it looks like you need to find a different solution for erasing. I expect I'll use this pencil for general writing and for woodworking. It's yellow, like a real pencil, and the pocket clip keeps it from rolling too far. Overall this looks like a good kit. This product is made in China.
