Ineffective

Honestly this isn't worth the money. I've used it once and it already doesn't suction properly. It's nothing but a fight using it. I should have just bought the Marina system (maybe it's manual but at least it works). Very disappointed.

Effective at cleaning a small tank

I think the smaller scale is very effective at cleaning the bottom of a small tank( < 5gallons). Unfortunately, some parts are fragile and broke after a short period of use.

Perfect for sand substrate

This is very useful for a well-planted aquarium with a sand substrate. I'm using it for my 30 gallon aquarium. The regular size vacuum/water changer nozzle is way too large to be useful... and if you're not very careful, destructive. I also have shrimp and small fish which can get sucked up in the large nozzle. With this wand and small tip, I can safely vacuum in and around the plants without uprooting them, sucking up shrimp or removing excessive amounts of sand. I then just let it drain until the bucket is full instead of using the large suction nozzle. It takes maybe a couple extra minutes, but once again, there's almost zero chance of sucking up a critter. Make sure you have the squeeze bulb turned correctly. It's a one-way valve to prime the suction.

Easy and effective

I've needed a small siphon for some of my nano and fry tanks and my normal gravel vac just didn't fit the bill. I got this because one: it was inexpensive and two: it looked like exactly what I needed to get into the little books and crannies that I've been getting some diatom algae in. Worked fantastic. Suction power was just right. I was able to clean the whole tank and only removed a little less than a gallon of water in the process. This is going to be a lifesaver when I've got tiny angelfish fry and need to clean up their tank. 10/10 even if it doesn't last very long, I've already gotten enough value out of it at a single tank cleaning.

works as it should, I have sucked up some of my soil and it's gotten stuck inside the pump which causes it too not siphon but that was my own fault. Once I get the soil out of the pump it works like a charm again.
