This is a fun little microscope. It comes with 5 slides that you can look at or you can look at whatever stuff you might have lying around. 250x magnification isn't really enough to properly look at bacteria but even simple things look neat at that zoom level. Using the phone attachment I took a picture of my mousepad and one of their slides to include in this review. It has a UV light but I didn't really have anything available to look at under it. The UV light doesn't work when it's in the slide viewing mode although nothing would stop you from looking at slides in the other mode, it's just harder to aim. Speaking of aim, I did find it very difficult to photograph the slide with my phone. The slide is see through so you see whatever is behind it too, so holding it in the air looks better because the background becomes a blur but then the slide kept sliding around. But at $18 it's hard to complain too much, the inclusion of the slides is already a nice bonus. Although it may have been nice if they included a blank slide with an indent that you could put stuff on as you're going to get bored of looking at the same 5 slides pretty fast.

I've had challenges trying to use a microscope with my little ones in the past with how difficult it could be for them to actually see things and keep the specimen steady, so I was hopeful this would help with the phone attachment. It didn't disappoint! This device comes with five sample specimen slides, the charging cable, cell phone attachment clip and cleaning cloth all inside of a very convenient carrying case. The whole package actually fit (snugly) into my pocket. I was able to take this out to the park and look at things with the kids. Attached are two photos I took with my cell phone on this device using two of the sample specimens it includes. Kids were amazed! So was I! If your phone has multiple lenses, you may need to pay with your settings to force it to use a specific lense or maybe set it to manual focus just to make it easier. I used portrait mode on my Pixel 8 and that stopped it from switching between both lenses. The harder part of using this small package was keeping everything still, but that's the trade-off for portability. With the cell phone attachment it's so much easier since you can focus on holding the phone as it attaches pretty securely to it and doesn't weigh much. I do wish the clip had a softer top clamp as that seems like it could scratch my screen. Overall, this is a simple, great way to explore the microscopic world on the go!

I ordered this microscope because I to take nature walks and I am always curious to have a closer look at the things I encounter. A hand lens is nice, but these pocket microscopes give an even closer look. I have reviewed several pocket microscopes, and this is the best one yet. I like that it take a standard AA battery because they are inexpensive and easy to obtain almost anywhere. i am tired of rechargeable devices that are dead when i need them and I don;t have time to recharge them. This microscope avoids that hassle by using an AA battery. It also has some very nice extras including a clip so you can take photos through the lens with your cell phone, and a "stage" for holding slides. The stage is actually quite handy if you want to take samples home prepare your own slides to get a really good look at what you find. The image quality is really quite good for an instrument at this price level. The UV light is a nice extra as well and opens a whole new realm of ways to observe things. The wrist lanyard is very nice for field use because it helps prevent dropping and breaking it. I especially appreciate that this comes with a nice zipper case. Most pocket microscopes like this one come with a soft case, or just a bag, so a zipper case like this one is a very nice bonus feature. I recommend this unit if you are in the market for a pocket microscope. Five stars.

I figured it'd be fun to look at random things under a relatively low powered microscope and it certainly is! I struggled using the eye piece directly though, I'm not sure if it's just that my sight isn't as good as it used to be or what. Using the phone clip was also a bit of a challenge, mostly because I think it's designed specifically for iphones, and I do not have an iphone. I like that they included some test slides for you to check out! I do wish they would have included at least one blank so that you could experiment with your own things. Love the case it came with, which means we can take it on the go out into the woods or beach or wherever for quick looks at the smaller things that make up our world.
