If you need RCA cables you know they can be expensive. And inflexible. You also know they are not complicated -- they are just copper (hopefully) with "shielding." If you need RCA cables you likely have ALOT of speaker wire around. With this product you can turn that speaker-wire into high-gauge RCA cables for cheap! The plugs themselves are built well for the price -- but don't expect the feel of products that are 5 times the price (though I question whether this would even matter). There is a small screw to hold the copper in place, and the back of the plug can be crimped down to secure the insulation/wire in place. There is a plastic shield included (pic 2) that will protect against any potential shorts and likely help with corrosion. Once fully assembled the wire/plug feel extremely secure. The plug itself gives a very strong grip on the receiver. I combined the + and - of a speaker wire to produce a cable that had much lower resistance (higher gauge), more flexibility, and lower cost than any pre-assembled cable I could find. AND, I was able to cut to the exact length I needed. I have noticed no difference in transmission quality between these, and name-brand cables. Depending on the length and specificity of the run you need to do (conduit, angles required, etc.) making cables in this way is amazing - regardless of the price. You can also, if needed, use in-wall approved speaker wire depending on your project. I am not about to go through and replace all of my cables. I may still use traditional cables for short (1.5-3') runs between expensive components. But for running a signal to an amp in a different zone, or to a powered sub/transducer -- these cannot be beaten. I considered giving 4 stars, only because the product feels a little lightweight. However, considering the price, and the fact that the weight should have literally 0 impact on the quality of the signal, I believe it deserves 5. I'm happy. Recommended.
