Love that they are compressed & they are easier to store

I've been using these sponges for about a week. I notice that they have a more dense texture than the name brand cellulose sponges I buy at my local grocery. Other sponges will start to shred if I use them to wipe the textured walls near my stove & leave little bits of blue sponge behind. These sponges have not shredded when I wipe the walls. I am impressed. To be sure, they are not strong enough to clean heavy messes like a BBQ grill with burnt bits but for normal household use, they are great. I am also happy to report that after using them for a week to clean my kitchen whether it was washing greasy pans or wiping coffee off of the walls after dropping a pot, they still smell fresh. Other sponges that I've used begin to smell musty within a few days no matter how well I rinse them. I am caring for these sponges in the same way I normally do but they don't yet stink. I don't know how long this luck will last but I'm happy to be able to have the cleaning versatility of a sponge without the musty stench. Also, you are able to cut them into shapes if you want to use them for kids (or your own!) craft projects. For giggles, I cut one with my kitchen shears. This was a difficult task and the dry sponge cracked but it can be done. If you want to try this, I'd suggest using a utility knife and a mat. Or cut them after they are damp.

I discovered compressed sponges last year & have been using them ever since. Years ago when they were first on the market, they seemed very pricey, but the cost has come down & these in particular are a really good value! ~ !2 sponges for $7.66 ~ (at the time of this review) is a good deal. And these are good sponges. They arrive as flat as a pancake, but bounce right up when you add water, it's pretty cool to watch. I use these for washing dishes. They are a good size, hold onto the soap and are generally easy to use. They dry out quickly which is always good for sponges so as not to get germy. These are also great for kids ... for arts & crafts projects. Save some for a rainy day, cutting out shapes of animals or any other fun shape & watching them 'grow' expand... can be a lot of fun for the kiddoes! It lets them use their imagination & be creative. A fun, low cost at-home activity. For me, being storage-challenged in my small apartment, the best part is that they take up almost no space in your drawer, being as flat as they are. A large amount of these sponges such as 12 can be stored just about anywhere. If you've never used compressed sponges before, give them a try... Recommended, 5 stars.
