I got these to replace some Christmas lighted snow globes which my pets chewed through the cables. It's very handy to have so many different adapters. The cable is a bit short, but it does a good job.

If you need to push 12V but don't want to carry around an entire power brick, this is a great tool! The USB plugs into any standard 5V female socket, and converts this to 12Vs for use with those devices. As you can see in my picture, I'm running the device from a 5V USB hub, but it's powering a string of 12V leds. My one complaint is that the unit gets very hot after 15-20 minutes of use. I think a heat sink or metal body design would allow the product to last longer.

I use this adapter for Wi-Fi routers powered by a USB battery bank. If you are looking to use a battery bank to power small 12v devices just make sure the bank has a low current mode as most of them will shut off when they aren't pushing much power. Overall the adapter works perfectly and the included converters are handy, though I'm not sure why there are USB converters. Don't plug the 12v output into a USB C device unless you are absolutely sure you're correct.

I bought this full well knowing I can't get 12VDC from a USB port, at least not without some magic. So I was stunned to see I actually measured 12VDC. As the title says, and most people that know something about USB know, USB is indeed 5V DC output. This is a fact by the USB standard. What is still a fact, but YMMV (your milegage may vary) is the current any given USB port can supply. With that said, this is a USB-A connector, USB up to USB 2.0 was 500mA MAX (at 5V). USB 3 is 900mA, however, some devices will do (and succeed at 1.5A give or take). I've heard of higher, but still, put that aside a moment. Since this says it provides 12VDC and indeed it does - HOW? It must contain a power regulator. I opened it and it does. Ok great!!!! You can power a 12V device with this, but be warned, you shouldn't be plugging this in to anything sensitive that actually wants 5VDC. I'm going there because they included a USB-C port. Anyways, back to the main point, since this uses a boost converter, it gets you 12VDC, it does this at the cost of reducing the available current. I didn't measure the inductor but simple math given a 0.9A max typical USB port, would mean this can provide 12VDC @ < 0.4 Amps, for how long? I'ts a pretty basic circuit, certainly one that has no heat dissipation to support 2 AMPS as advertised. Other notes: The cable is very rigid, it's a thicker cable with a very firm plastic, it doesn't bend/flow freely. Overall the adapters are a cheaper molded product too. Just sharing. All this said, for $9.00 this is a pretty nice (albeit cheap) product that can deliver 12VDC for small applications. Go into this with a 12V DC @ 500mA mindset, and you might be ok. Don't bother getting it for any big loads!!!!
