This is one of those tools that I didn't know I needed. I got it as an impulse but was surprised at how well made it is. In addition to holding up photo references or concept sketches, I also use it to hold up color wheels, color swatches., viewfinders and a spare sheet of paper to clear my airbrush on. It will easily hold thick cardstock or cardboard but can't hand the weight of multiple pieces. It's lightweight if you're putting it in your travel art kit.

I'm using this to hold reference pictures off the side of my easel. I also have one for holding the top of my iPad to the bar of my easel when I rest it above the canvas. These are an inexpensive solution that work better than binder clips.

These clamps are great!!!! The central arm has 3 joints, one of which includes a rotating feature. The joints are purposely stiff to hold items steady; the rotating head moves easily. The smaller end jaw grips softly meaning you'll probably be able to use it without damaging the tender screen of your laptop or tablet up to about 1/2" thick. Or it can equally softly grip your photo or other single sheet of paper. The larger clamp includes a softer, curved inner surface which means it can grip a rounded member. It's a much stiffer clamp and, with some effort, can be opened to about 3/4" at the entry point (one inch in diameter on the inside). I can't wait to use these in the art studio with the big clamp on my easel and the smaller one holding the picture references I'm using. Or use them to hold small items, hard copy for re-typing, kitchen recipes, temporary signs, etc. How many ways can you use them?
