I got these beads because they are advertised to be made of shells. I expected that to give them a weight and finish that is closer to a pearl than a standard plastic bead. These do feel like they are better quality than plastic beads but I am not sure what they are coated with. I chose 4mm beads, but took a close-up photo of them so people could see that there seems to be excess coating around the hole of the bead. Or more specifically, it seems that when the hole is punched, it punches through the coating on the bead and creates a little excess at the exit point of the hole. This isn't a deal-breaker for me, but I draw attention to it, because the coating does effect the feel of the bead, and some of the beads are harder to string than others. I used an eye pin (shown in the photo), which is easy to string, but some of the beads were harder to string when I was using elastic cord or bead string due to the excess material blocking the exit hole of the bead.

These faux pearls stand up to scrutiny until you get them real close or realize they are a bit light in the hand. They will work well for a project design my wife has in mind that includes pearls. You get enough in the package to make them a good value for the price.

These beads are so pretty and so perfect. Love the color and the shine and the fact they arent glass or plastic but created out of shells! Love the plastic case they come in too!!

These faux pearls are nice. They have the look and weight of glass pearls. They are shiny. I got the 6mm cream and the color is nice. The holes are good sized and fit all the eye pins, head pins, beading wire and string that I use. They came in a small clear plastic reusable box. I got 100 faux pearls.

This is a collection of 100 6mm pearls. They are a pretty cream color and will look nice in jewelry projects. I had originally ordered them with plans of knotting them to make a necklace but looking at them I think that 6mm is a little small for this and I'll use them for something else. Next time I'll get 8 or 10 mm pearls for this. These are shell pearls. The product description says that they are made from "finely ground nacre". This may be the reason why they have a nice shine and resemble real pearls. They don't seem to have the weight and feel of real pearls however. I think the real test will be how they look and feel once I've used them in a project and how well they wear. Overall, they are nice beads but I don't think that they are worth the $12.99 price.
