This is a great adapter because its so versatile. It comes with eight different tips and can be set for 3, 4.5, 5, 6, 7.5, 9, and 12 volts DC. You switch the voltage with a little key they supply. In my case, I wanted this power supply for a nature/yard cam. I have two nature cams and, at eight batteries each, they go through a lot of AA cells, which adds up. It only recently occurred to me that I have a couple of outdoor outlets, and, with outdoor extension cords, can power the cameras on DC. This one took an H tip, which fit just fine. The camera works great, powered by this. It shows full power. My challenge is to outdoor proof this, and Im not sure if Ill be successful. I used the bubble plastic this came in, a bit of electrical tape (to secure the connections), some duct tape (I did leave a little gap because I dont know how hot this will get), and some zip ties. My work looks pretty amateurish/klugey, but we shall see if it holds. Ill probably get an appropriately sized junction boxI dont want the adapter to overheat or get wet. (I plan to check it regularly.) I did notice one review that said their adapter got very hot. So far, mine has stayed cool, though the weather is cool. It could possibly depend on the volts chosen and how much power is consumed by the device the adapter is connected to. (This is just a guess.) In the case of my 6V camera, it's usually in standby and only kicks on, maybe at most, 50 brief times a day to take photos and short videos for a few seconds at a time. Not having to worry about the camera running low on batteries and missing night shots will be a relief. So far, so good. You could use this adapter for many, many different devices.

This is a nice, versatile AC adapter to have on hand. It has variable output voltages from 3 to 12 VDC, and comes with a variety of tips plus a small screwdriver tool to turn the voltage selector. I like that the voltage selector clicks firmly into each voltage setting with no slop or looseness. I also like that the adapter does not block the adjacent socket on duplex outlet (see photo). I checked the no-load output voltage and got: Selection Output 3V 3.07 4.5V 4.42 5V 5.03 6V 6.14 7.5V 7.67 9V 9.19 12V 12.25 My multimeter is a cheapie, so to me those no-load output voltages seam fine. Some of the variation could come from my meter.

Needed it for a ring light works perfectly

It works. But I am concerned about how hot it gets when being used.. that can't be normal.. or safe

We realized there may be a possible replacement here too and we were correct. It is the same brand that came with the heat and massage pad but is even better quality because you can use the adapter for many more products and for travel. We are glad we decided to be Eco-thoughtful and not simply replace the heat and massage pad altogether. Purchasing another adapter was as simple as reading the underside of the original adapter and finding a similar model. The price was great and it was super easy to use. Works great and includes a power- on indicator light.
