It's a small box, and it seems sturdy enough for the size and purpose. I'm not going to stand on it. Hinges are expected for size.wells fit tight mostly, they aren't going to jiggle loose. I am excited to fill it. Will update review if product lacks. If you are looking for a compact paint container, this is a good one and really cute!

The lid was moisture warped and could not be closed. I ended up taking it apart and using it as a soap dish. The construction is too thin to use as a paint box. Not useful at all.

Overview: - Each 1/2 pan will hold about half of a 5mL tube of paint - Latch is sturdy - Wood construction seems solid - Hinges are flimsy and the lid doesn't open past 90 degrees - Pans seem reasonably durable for the price (would be great if they offered a metal half pan option) I bought this to put in a cigar box with other watercolor painting supplies and it fits great, holds the variety of colors that I like to work with, and seems durable. I anticipate replacing the hinges, possibly with leather, so that I can open it flat and my little mixing dish can sit in the lid. Satisfactory purchase. Would recommend.

I thought this was going to be something I loved for a bit then got tired of... but I was feeling impulsive. No.. I LOVE it. I use gouache. It holds my pallet selection perfectly, and having all my colors available at whim without fighting the tubes is awesome. The wells are crazy deep for being so seemingly tiny and hold ALOT. I use tiny amounts of paint as I go, so even though my paintings aren't small, I found the size of the pallet sufficient for most of the process.
