I do have a decent regular charger, but these could be charged anywhere, even from another larger battery pack, which I have. Its kinda a gimmick they all charge on 1 cord. Unless you have a 4 battery device, youll only be charging 1 or 2 at a time anyway. The voltage is solid, so what I use it in seems louder and brighter than the nimh batteries.

It is great to have a 1.5V rechargeable. The NiMH only give 1.2V and does not work well with some devices. Plus, the 1.5V this gives stays at 1.5V until the battery is done. All other batteries fade the voltage down gradually even at half gone. These batteries are really convenient for items during travel since you don't need a special charging adapter. I already travel with USB-C charging so I'm prepared anytime the battery needs topped off. The downside of having the charging port built in is it does reduce capacity a bit. The space it takes for the port connector is less space for the battery. The battery says it has 600mWh rather than telling you the mAh like everyone is used to seeing. I think this is to make you think it has more capacity that it actually does. Well, you take the 600mWh and divide by 1.5V to find out the battery is 400mAh. Much less than batteries without a charging port. But for the charging convenience, it is a trade off. The battery has a discharge rate on the side of it of 200ma (Max 1200mA). I assume the 200mA is max continuous and the 1200mA is just very short surge rating. You don't want to cause the batteries to get hot from drawing too much continuously. I'm going to use one in a tiny LED flashlight that I think will likely draw 300mA. I don't normally use it more than a minute at a time, so hopefully it won't overheat. All the batteries measured 1.52V out of the box. When charging, the green light coming out the top edge is unique.

These come packed in a box with the charging cable and a box with the batteries in it. The charging cable is a USB-A to 4 USB-C assembly. On each battery there is a USB-C charging port. While charging there is a blinking green light which changes to solid green when the battery is charge. The description says the batteries are rated for 600mWh. For comparison an Alkaline AAA battery is 1275-1800mWh so it will only last 1/2 to 1/3 of the time a non-rechargeable battery will. Kind of makes sense since part of the battery area is used up by the charging section, so there is less space for the actual battery section. Listing the rating in mWh is a little misleading since most batteries will list mAh. Use the equation mWh = mAh x voltage, where voltage is 1.5 volts for the battery. Converting this battery's rating to mAh give 400 mAh. If you are ok with the shorter life in exchange for the recharging ability, these seem to be a good option. Just be aware that since each battery has it's own charger built in, that you will have less battery capacity and you will have to recharge more frequently. I would recommend you do some comparison shopping with "normal" rechargeable AAA batteries and compare the price/capacity to these. There are other rechargeable batteries that give performance that is much closer to an Alkaline AAA battery for a similar price.

I've wished for a while that this direct-USB-charging feature could fit into a AAA battery. Here it is! These work on the same technology as other USB-chargeable 1.5v and 9v cells. I've seen numerous listings for AA, D, and 9v cells with USB-C charging, but this is the first set of AAAs I've come across. As delivered, they produce the expected well-regulated voltage, with a low-frequency ~10Hz sawtooth wave while they're not under load. The ones I got needed only a few minutes to fully recharge. The charging is smart enough to turn off at each cell when it's fully charged; no need to keep an eye on these and unplug them when they're full. A couple of notes common to all such cells: 1) Don't expect "low battery" indicators to work with these. They'll give the full rated version until they're drained, then drop immediately to 0v. 2) The "600mWh" capacity on these translates to 400mAh, which is about half to a third what you'll get out of an NiMH or alkaline cell. On the other hand, you get the full 1.5v for the entire charge, and you should be able to recharge these a bunch of times. I'm accumulating an annoying number of widgets that want AAA cells. I'm happy to have this sort of regulated cell available for them. Recommended!

Everything now a days needs batteries. For the longest time I've just been using regular disposable batteries that I buy in bulk from the costco. I had been thinking about getting some rechargeable batteries for some time but the traditional rechargeable batteries all required having one of those charging stations to recharge them and I didn't want one more contraption sitting on my desk. When I first saw these batteries I knew they were what I needed. Unlike traditional rechargeable batteries, these batteries have the chargers built right into each battery. That way all you need to do to recharge them is to plug in a usb-c cable directly into the battery, no charging station required. The batteries charged up really fast and were ready to go. So far I've used them in a couple of remote controls so I haven't drained them yet but even if they don't last as long as regular disposable batteries it wouldn't matter because you can just recharge them and keep using them. For the money I think these are a great investment as well as a good way to cut down on more waste for our landfills. Now I just need more sizes and I'm set!
