I like that this stand does not require I take the case off the ipad. It was smaller than I expected but it works just fine. I like keeping the iPad off the kitchen counter in case of spills. Surprisingly with a 9.75 ipad it does not easily tip over. It also holds a cell phone even with a thick case and pop socket. The metal is very light weight (maybe even cheap) so Im not sure about longevity. The devices do not clip in which means less stability but as I said, the advantage is that you dont need to remove any protective cases. Im happy with it but I only paid $14? Because it was used. If I bought another I might try a different one for comparison.

Excellent Quality stand - I put this all-metal stand at a "Studio Quality" rating. This stand is built to hold up to regular use and shrug it off. Honest steel and hard aluminum, even the setscrew is a generous diameter steel, knurled thumbscrew (as with anything - don't overtighten, it works great with normal pressure). The base stays level and has 4 pads of silicone rubber as non-skids, and the top "stand" is metal with a curved 'shelf' to retain devices - and has 2 silicone rubber non-skid in the curl and another 2 at the top. My iPhone 12 is retained securely either upright or horizontal - I said "pads" for a reason: the non-skids aren't little "dots", even they are generous, so they'll last. The only point f future failure that I see is the tilt mechanism. It appears to be friction on nylon bushings. This will last a long time, but I don't see a way to adjust it. However, for the price I couldn't believe the quality of this stand - it is BUILT! One caution - I put this for Smartphone and SMALL Tablet. I wouldn't try to put my Kindle Fire on it - it's just not big enough. But for even the largest Smartphone, or tablets of that size, it is GREAT! I already have purchased another 2 to place around the house - oine on my nightstand, one in the living room, and one by my wife's computer. I may have to get some more ... addictive stands? IS that a 'plus'?
