Good value "bulk" material. Traced and cut to size from my other filter pads. Does a great job at filtering all sizes of debris. Best of all I have rinsed it several times for multiple uses.

I saw one of the reviews stated that it is very thin, unlike the photo. On the front of the package it clearly states that you need to heat the material in hot water or with a hairdryer to undo the compression. I used a dryer and it fluffed right up to the 1" thickness. Hate to call out other reviewers, but c'mon - read the directions. I am using this as a layer in my cannister tank. The material was easily cut with scissors. Since adding the media, my tank has been crystal clear, so it definitely does the job. It feels strong enough that I should be able to rinse and reuse it for many times. Definitely a good value for how much you get.

I have several aquariums and regularly use this type of filter media in my sumps. I have tried many different types and most are ok. Occasionally one is better than average and one will be worse than average but most just do their job. This one feels very sturdy. I just opened it yesterday for my monthly water changes so I can't yet evaluate its performance. What I can comment on are first impressions. The item ships vacuum sealed and is extremely flat. No problem. I get that it saves on shipping costs and have have many products ship as such. However, their instructions say to soak it in hot water or to heat with a hair dryer to fluff it back up. I ran it under hot water for about a minute. All it did was get wet. I went ahead and put it in my sump and will check it out after some time to see if it starts fluffing up. I'll tell you that doing water changes for multiple aquariums is time consuming enough that I don't want to add extra steps just to use a filter pad. I will use the product until it is exhausted and determine the effectiveness compared to other floss. Unless this is superior in terms of performance, I probably won't be re-ordering it.

I loathe filter socks. The constant cleaning and bleaching. Yuck. Filter floss is perfect. I create a cardboard template and then use high quality shears to cut to size. Then, I use media holders in lieu of filter socks and run GAC et al. The filter floss does a good job of removing detritus and polishing the water at an inexpensive price point. Nice product.

The picture of it makes it look like its a big roll but it comes all squished flat. Directions say if rinsed in water it will fluff up more, it does-- but not really alot like the picture.... But it does work good as it holds together and has a thinner and thicker mesh side. I cut it to fit filter and made about 3 layers of it on top of each other. There is alot in a package, so it should last long time. It doesnt pull apart or ball up like the old filter floss used to...
