At first I thought I'd gotten one that was too big, but after wearing it for a ~12 hour work shift, I found it was a fairly proper fit, so it seems their sizing chart's pretty close to accurate. It definitely helped my belly not stick out as much, but it does not provide back support comparable to those thick belts used for weight lifting. It's too flexible for that. This belt's just for helping with posture & "tummy shaping." I've only used it that one shift & it smelled pretty funny afterward. It's probably not really intended to be worn for that long or during exercise/sweaty work. Maybe it's due to my placement while wearing it that time, but it drastically increased pressure on one of my hip bones on the front side of me & it was very uncomfortable there. I'll be trying it a little lower next time & we'll see how that does or doesn't improve that contact point's comfort levels.

I'm always looking for supportive back braces, and the BOKIC Back Support Belt for Men and Women has a lot of features I really appreciate. I selected the XL as my waist is dead center of that range (38"); it is quite roomy but works well for me. I like my back braces quite tight, and when I applied it I have about 8 inches of overlap around my waist, so someone at the edge of a size range could probably size either up or down. The brace has an easy velcro application and the whole belt works as the velcro base (partly why it sizes up and down so well). There are two tightening elastic pieces that also velcro down to make it more firm; these also can attach anywhere on the brace. One thing I love about this brace is that it gives a lot of coverage to the back, catching the very bottom of my ribcage and getting to within three inches of my sacrum. For my particular lower lumbar back problems, this is really sturdy and splendid. The elastic material is also really stretchy and comfortable, so my back feels well supported where the separate elastic overlay reaches, but my ribcage still has room to breathe and move even though the brace is really tight. In all, this is one of my favorite back braces I've tried. Recommend to others who need a little more lumbar support but like to be a little flexible too.

My waist is 29-30 inches and I got the medium. It fits well. I'm able to securely fasten the first velcro closure and then tighten it even further with the adjustment straps, adding more support. The velcro is strong. The torso height of this belt works for me. The measurement of the belt from top to bottom is approx 10 inches. The fabric is nice , but I still wear a thin t shirt underneath it to prevent skin irritation. This belt really works great to keep my core engaged and prevent over use of my back.

100% recommend: Go for the larger size. There is enough Velcro that both hubby and I (she) can wear the same brace. Have tried other brands that say XL and at best they would fit a medium sized waist. This is WIDE. If you are strapping it on. Get a wide brace. Even just wearing sitting at the desk helps your posture. This is not my first back brace, but honest, once you buy one and wear it, you will love the concept. Husband HAD back surgery and feels no pain. He has also had multiple knee surgeries. He has had shoulder surgery. he needs to hold himself together to not fall apart. But I (she) wear one as well. I just like the support it gives me when I am doing lifting and strenuous yard work. The other "style" we have is a brace with over-the-shoulder suspender style. This is similar, in that it does not have suspensers.

I have been athletic since I was 20. Now in my 60s, I continue to work out heavily on the treadmill and Peloton for 90 minutes each day. While I have reaped the benefits of being in shape and in good health, my body occasionally takes the toll of all the abuse that it's put through. For instance, I am having lower back issues. I get it on and off throughout the year so I tend to ignore it and chalk it up to the level of exercise I put my body through. The thing is, my back hurts and I felt that if could add more support to it during a workout, I would feel more comfortable. This BOKIC back brace is the answer I was looking for. It is well-constructed and made with premium stretch neoprene, which is well-ventilated to deal with sweating during workouts. Prior to purchasing I used the product sizing chart to determine my waist size. This is not the waist size of my pants. You need to take a garment measurer and wrap it around your stomach to determine proper sizing. In my case, it indicated a LARGE. The brace fit perfectly. It has a two-tier velcro fastening system around the front of the body which ensures it stays in place during exercise. While it feels somewhat heavy while exercising, I found the level of support in keeping my body perfectly positioned to be the positive trade-off. Any pain I was experiencing during exercise had now been contained. This is a quality brace which I would not hesitate to recommend.
