I had never tried Bdellium Tools brushes until recently. Id heard they were really good brushes, and most of the time the individual brushes and brush sets are pretty high priced for brushes, so I expected a lot. I recently tried their Small Rounded Double Dome Blender and I was pretty disappointedso, I was hoping that this brush would be better. This comes in a plastic outer product box. It is made in China. The ferrule feels like plastic. The product page says it is metalized plastic ferrule. Im not sure what metalized means? Maybe a paint overlay? To me it just feels plastic. Its good color. The handle feels like plastic to me too, but the product page says its a painted wooden handle. Maybe its the paint over it that makes it feel plasticy. The handle is a pretty blue color. It is labeled 951 SS Double Dome Blender. It feels really lightweight. It has a nice look and feel too it, but the plastic ferrule and even the handle, while it says its wood, it doesnt feel like it to me, it just feels kind of cheap for an $18 brush. The hairs have that overly synthetic silky feel to them. When it comes to synthetic brushes, theres one thing I dont like - an overly synthetic feel. If you have tried different makeup brushes, you probably know what I mean. They have that silky/slippery feel to them. Theyre very soft, but so silky/slippery that they dont hold onto product well. If its powder products, the powder just falls off of them. When youre using creams or liquids, synthetic brushes are usually better because they dont absorb a bunch of product. But, if they have that overly synthetic feel to them, that slippery/silky feel to them, then they tend to just kind of move product around, not really blend it in. I was surprised these brushes had hairs like that, and not just a slightly overly synthetic, slippery/silky feel, but extremely slippery/silky. But, I still wanted to try it out and see if it would perform the way I thought or surprise me. Again, for an $18 brush, I just am surprised with the quality. The brush handle and ferrule being plastic, and the hairs being so overly synthetic, silky/slippery. I just expect way more from a single brush that costs $18. I have DUcare, Docolor, Elf, and Wet n Wild brushes that feel like way better quality. The design of the brush hairs is definitely interesting and something Id never seen before. It has long hairs and then short hairs. Then, theres almost like this space between the long and short hairs, so theres like an empty line in the middle. The product page said that the symmetrical double dome brush gives quicker, effortless application and blending. It functions as a 2-in-1, multi-tasking brush so you dont need to hold multiple brushes in one hand while working and your kit stays lighter and less bulky. The brush is supposed to give a better airbrushed look than a single dome brush. It says it can be used for every step from skin prep to primer, foundation, concealer, contour, and blush. It works with liquid, cream, and powder products - it does it all! It says that it consists of both a small and large dome. The small dome has a matte surface with micro wavy bristles, whereas the large dome has a shiny surface with straight bristles. The large dome picks up less product for a thinner application, whereas the small dome picks up more product for a thicker application. Apply foundation using the longer, flat side of the brush. Then, use the shorter side with the double dome to diffuse and soften the foundation. If you would like to lay the foundation thicker, also use the shorter side with the double dome and stipple. The large dome will simultaneously work with the small dome to achieve more coverage in less time. The design of the slightly angled ferrule provides a comfortable and easier application. The slanted dome allows for a more precise application of the product in curved, creased, or deepened areas of the face. Overall, the brush isnt for me. It said it is supposed to function as a 2-in-1 multi-tasking brush. I assume the 2-in-1 is getting the larger dome that picks up less product so you get thinner application, meaning less coverage, and the smaller dome picks up more product so you get a thicker application, meaning more coverage? Im not really sure how youre supposed to just use 1 - the larger dome or the smaller dome - to get the coverage you want? Being combined in the brush makes it where you are using both the larger and smaller dome together at the same time, and would hopefully end up with coverage in the middle of the 2 - medium coverage (since the larger dome claims to give thinner application, so less coverage, and the smaller dome claims to give thicker application, so more coverage, so it seems like using both would give something in the middle of those 2, which would be medium coverage). I suppose you could turn the brush around so youd only use the longer dome? But there doesnt seem to be a way to only use the smaller dome? So Im not s...
