Ive five kids over the last 19 years and hoping for one more before perimenopause goes any further, so a prenatal vitamin is a must before even trying to conceive, because its been found to be important to have a good store of certain nutrients in your body before conception, which is why doctors have recommended for years that women of childbearing age should always take a prenatal vitamin just in case. Ive used a LOT of different prenatal vitamins through my pregnancies and many years of breastfeeding over the last two decades, and Im really impressed with the ingredients in this particular prenatal vitamin. This includes whole food nutrients not found in many multivitamins, prenatal versions included, as well as natural forms of some vitamins rather than the far more common synthetic forms. Pretty complete, much more so than many competing prenatal formulas over recent years, similar to complete multivitamins, but with higher doses of particular nutrients needed more normal during pregnancy. These are also in powder form, in gelatin capsules, which is a HUGE help for many pregnant women dealing with morning sickness, because most prenatal vitamins are in tablet form, which almost always taste terrible. Genuinely impressed with these, with a very good basis for comparison, so if youre looking for prenatal vitamins for preconception, pregnancy, or breastfeeding, this is a top notch option!

I first found these the week my baby was born, so I plan to use these as postpartum supplement. I love that these are one easy pill (as opposed to the ones I took through pregnancy which were 3 capsules per day!) These are a reasonable size, and easy to swallow. I love that there is no "vitamin smell" as you open the bottle. I compared the ingredients to my previous brand and they are very comparable. I love that they are a whole food vitamin, contain a vegetable blend in addition to the standard prenatal ingredients, and do not have the dyes that a lot of brands contain. Easy 30 day supply per bottle makes reordering easy to calculate. The price is very reasonable. It comes in a glass bottle with a child lock lid. I store mine in the refrigerator because it is a whole food supplement, but the shelf life shows 3 years out. Pleased and plan to reorder!

I like that these prenatals seem to have all of the good stuff without a bunch of added dyes and other questionable ingredients as i have seen in big box store vitamins. No weird smell or aftertaste when taking these. I appreciate that it is just one pill per dose as well. I try to look for companies that seem to produce their product here in the USA and from what I can tell, these Bluebonnet Prenatals are. As far as the true effectiveness I cannot say until I'm at my doctor for routine labs, but overall i feel these are a great choice for someone within childbearing age looking for a daily multivitamin. Would definitely buy again.

As someone who has spent researched nutrition and vitamins in particular for decades, I am very enthusiastic about this particular prenatal supplement: - it is made of truly whole food ingredients, not just "whole food based" in the loose sense of the term - it does not have harmful additives, chemicals, dyes, sugars, or synthetic vitamins or fillers - it is very clearly labeled so you can see exactly how each ingredient is whole-food based - it is incredibly affordable for a whole food prenatal - it has the ideal amount of iodine - it has more than ample iron, which is something very hard to find in many prenatals - it has 100% of basically every essential nutrient for prenatal purposes; some people may prefer more, but for one pill a day and a whole food supplement, that is excellent - it does have some helpful herbs - it is in a small glass bottle - it looks pretty and thus is inspiring to take Downside: - it smells a little, but that is to be expected since it is so natural - it doesn't have much calcium, but once again, that is to be expected because whole food calcium can normally only be found in larger pills - I wish it had more choline, but that can be taken separately The only thing I would recommend is that if a pregnant or breastfeeding woman were to want to take this regularly they should look into what sort of third-party testing the company does for contaminants. Likely it will be fine, but the description didn't contain that information, so that would be my one precaution.

On the hunt for good prenatal vitamin options I came across these and decided to try them. Pros: I had no GI issues taking these with food. The gelatin cap sits well on my stomach. I appreciate the fact, than in addition to a well rounded list of necessary vitamins and minerals at pregnancy level amounts, I also get a comforting herbal blend and a greens boost. One pill dose. IGEN 3rd party tested- non GMO, free of milk, egg, fish/shell fish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, sesame, gluten and sugar. Kosher certified (KOF- K #0000700). Whole food based, organic vegetables. My bottle has a 3 year shelf life and arrives in a glass amber bottle with child safe top to better preserve nutrition. Cons: It doesn't appear that these are vegan, veterinarian or Halal friendly, at least not that they are noted on the bottle. These are rather larger pills so some might have problems swallowing them. Overall, this appears to be a well rounded prenatal multi vitamin with a few extras for comfort and nutrition. For a 30 day supply at the present price of $12.76, I believe this to be with in fair market value for prenatals.
