Leash *Material -Material is strong. -Neoprene on the handle is soft and cushy. *Carabiner -Strong. -The Lock uses a sliding mechanism that isnt fool proof but isnt bad. Stays in place most of the time and the carabiner is good even without it. -Reflective material is bright. Only thing is its on a single side, but it should be fine. -D-Ring to hold the poop bag is strong. And can be used to connect to another leash as an extension. -Adjustable length is very useful. I havent seen this on many (if any) other leashes. Lengths given are pretty much whats given 35 - 50. If Im measuring it right, (end of carabiner to D-ring) I have 30 to 54. Collar *Material -Same strong material. -Neoprene all around for comfort at the smallest setting. Lose 4-5 when at it lingers. -Length is pretty much what it says on the product page 12 - 16 give or take. If Im measuring it right, its more like 11.5 to 15 -Adjusting it is easy. -Same reflective material *Buckle - Basic plastic buckle. Strong. -O Ring is placed where if the buckle were to come undone, it might act catch right and avoid the collar from coming off. I personally wont attach the leash to the collar especially with a small dog. Ill use it just for dog tags. Ill use a harness for the leash.

If your "small" dog has a neck circumference of 13 - 18 inches, then this is the collar for you! The collar seems well made, nicely padded. But I WOULDN'T KNOW more than that since my small dog doesn't have a 13 inch neck. This is not a situation where the wrong item was shipped. It has a small sewn in label that says S. The listing does not give lengths for the collars, just dimensions for the package, like that is important.
