I have been very happy with Bulk Supplements products over the years and I am still a regular customer. Also, this particular protein powder is radically different from other beef protein isolate powders on the market. I only ordered the Bulk Supplements version because the stuff that has been working so well for me was out of stock at the time (and Bulk Supps stuff had never shown up in my recommendations until I went searching for an alternative). I was also so accustomed to being happy with Bulk Supplements powders etc in the past, that I bought a 1kg bag with no hesitation. Oops. This stuff though, smells bad and tastes worse. It sort of looks like unflavored beef gelatin (coarsely ground and apx the same color) BUT beef gelatin powder IS actually unflavored, AND actually dissolves in water. The flavor of this protein powder reminds me of ground up hamburger that has been over done on on a grill along with a faint charred smell (and once blended the charred smell becomes a very noticeable taste). Oh and as far as protein powders go, this stuff actually messed with my entire digestive system worse than any whey or soy protein powders ever did. The only protein powder I have tried that smelled worse was Brown Rice protein.

I have purchased this product for quite a long time, and it has always had a relatively mild taste and flavor that was palatable when mixed with water or other liquid. The last two packages have arrived and taste and smell putrid. I called billsupplements.com and they said they had changed suppliers and were receiving a lot of complaints. They refunded my money once and told me the next month should be better. The next month was not better. It was the same awful rancid tasting and smelling product. I called them again and asked for a refund and they said they do not offer refund based on taste. This was incorrect, because they have issued quite a few refunds based on taste and fully understand the issue they are having. I will not purchase this product again until the supplier is changed. It quite literally tastes and smells like rotten, decaying meat.

Bad taste, good results

Bought this to supplement my meager carnivore diet to ASSIST w/:spine surgery recovery, muscle n hair loss, osteo, etc. After reading the putrid smells comments I wondered if the kilo I ordered was a mistake. I have a sensitive palate and smell sensory of a hound. So I stood back when I opened my order 4 the 1st time. My supply has a very slight smell and light caramel color and seems completely fine. This product is beef - hopefully muscle fibers n all the good stuff. Its going to smell somewhat! Find mixers that complement the powder rather than highlight it. Ex. Hazelnut, caramel creamers mixed into coffee and powder. Like the courtesy sprays along side your toiletcashmere scent before raspberries 4 the hard hitters. I must add that even my raspberry creamer fits well in my beef powdered coffee. Its very palatable. I sincerely hope the company adheres to the complaints by repeat customers of this product to ensure mistakes in production dont happen. Ill likely reorder granted 5 star product performance and decent pricing.

The protein powder itself is great but the taste and smell isnt. It tastes like salty beef and smells like it too. If it wasnt for that aspect the product would be perfect.
