I've been a fan of all things Canadian for as long as I can remember (my go to fidget toy is a Labatt's bottle cap. I like the familiar maple leaf logo that reminds me of the lakes and woods that I explored in my youth. So, I jumped on these when I saw all of the maple leaves laser etched onto the handle. Imagine my disappointment when I received the brushes and they did not include the amount of ML/C (Maple Leaves per Centimeter) as shown in the product photo! And, to add insult to injury, after a few uses, the sparse maple leaves that are provided began to fade to the point where they could hardly be seen. But, you may be wondering, do they brush your teeth? I honestly feel that the lack of advertised maple leaves made me too mad to brush my teeth well. If I'm going to renounce my Imperial upbringing and adopt Canadian metrics to measure my happiness, do not cheat me out of my ML/C!

I love the story behind these toothbrushes. My favorite kind of environmentalism is the kind that finds new uses for cast off products and results in a new product that can also be reused or recycled easily. This is an excellent example of that. I use bamboo handled toothbrushes, and I like them, but this is superior in quality to those as well in my opinion. The handle is maple wood, which I think is pretty and feels nice. Unlike bamboo toothbrushes, the maple seems to have less wood flavor, it's more neutral. This is good for people who balk at using wood handled toothbrushes because they can taste the wood. The maple wood handle is smooth and feels good to use. The bristles on this are lovely, and my teeth and gums felt good using this brush and felt very clean. It works very well as a toothbrush. You do need to remove the bristles before the handle can be disposed of. The toothbrush is also a little more expensive than a standard plastic or bamboo brush, but the benefit is that it has a cool story and is made in Canada, so it's justifiable and worthwhile.

The bristles themselves are okay and the brush head is about normal size the wood handle just feels weird to me. However, it does do its job and I like the uniqueness of it.

I've tried other similar tooth brushes in thr past, and have never loved them (usually too small, or bristles shedding etc.) These are the first wooden ZeeBooth toothbrushes that I've actually really liked and would consider repurchasing. The brushes are decent size for an adult mouth, and they last quite awhile in excellent condition, without bristles bending down or shedding. Excellent longevity. Very comfortable to hold, and I get a good clean feeling with these. Definitely recommend.

I wanted so much to love this toothbrush. I am a huge believer in reducing disposable plastics so a wooden brush makes a ton of sense. Not that I can toss this brush into the compost when I'm done with it though; the bristles appear to be plastic. And they have blue dye in them too (ick). The wood isn't sealed in any way and, while that has environmental benefits, it also means that you get that cheap wooden taste in your mouth when you use it (like a bad popsicle stick) and it isn't water resistant. That's right, a toothbrush that can't handle getting wet. In the picture you can see how the end of the brush has a permanent water mark because I stored it upright in a regular toothbrush holder (for less than 24 hours). I could put up with all that though if the brush actually worked well. It brushes my teeth the bare minimum; they don't really feel clean but it's better than not brushing. The real issue is the wood knocks around in my mouth. It's really uncomfortable and interferes with my ability to brush my teeth and gums correctly. I'm not sure why since, if you look at the picture, the head and bristles are more or less the same size as my regular toothbrush. Except that small measurements make a huge difference and these bristles have almost no push back to them so they just collapse with the slightest pressure, causing the wooden base to go into my teeth and gums instead. So nice idea, really poor execution.
