This is the BEST dish ever. You won't want to bother with anything else. Fill the edge with water so the ants don't find the food. Or we fill ours with diatomaceous earth (digestible) to keep out worse critters like roaches and scorpions. I know. Terrible. Life is sometimes like that.

I have two stray cats that think I need to feed them lol and I'm a sucker for animals. This bowl has helped me keep the ants out of the food. Now if I could only teach the cat pictured that the water in the slot is not there to drink. He keeps drinking the water from there and not the bowl ugh. It does collect a lot of food in the water slot but it's super easy to clean out. I use this bowl strictly for dry food but I'm going to buy another one for wet food as well. Great investment! Great price!

I've been having this ant problem. Those stupid ants get in to my cats food when I serve it on there dish. With the GRPET Pet Bowl I haven't had a ant problem ever since. It's just like it says in the description. Sturdy plastic that's easy to clean. I feed 2 cats with this one dish. You just put some cat food in the dish then put some water in the trough that surrounds the food and voila! no more ants. The price is great. If you're reading the review you should just buy one right now. I'm a picky consumer and if I say it's a good, IT'S A GOOD BUY. Get 2, why not?

Works well at stopping ants, holds enough food to feed a mother cat throughout the day as well as enough water for the same thing.

This design works to keep ants out but it's a little small. It is very lightweight and won't stay in place. And the moat is so skinny and shallow that the kibble scatters in there and soaks up the water. It's a relief to not have ants contaminating the food and then the cats won't eat out of it, but I only leave enough in there for one eating session and have to clean out the moat each time.
