These furniture protectors are great because you can cut them down to size if needed. They are easy to take off and re-stick if you need to move them. An added bonus are the pins that are included. I like that they are twisted so that it makes it more difficult for the cat to pull out off the couch if they are messing with it.

My cat has plenty of scratching posts around, but for whatever reason, there is one corner of the couch that he insists on scratching even though he knows he isn't supposed to. I think he goes for it at night when no one is awake to stop him. It was starting to get strings hanging off, and you could see little punctures in the fabric. These were super easy to install just peel stick where you want and secure with some of the little included corkscrew pins. The sheets are shiny, so unfortunately, they don't exactly blend in with matte fabric, but they do a good job of protecting it just the same. Even when inserting the pins, I had to really try to get through the plastic, so cat nails seemed unlikely to apply the force I was using. The tops of the pins are a flat clear like button, so there is nothing to stick out and harm anyone. I wasn't sure how they would work with the curve around the sofa, but it actually applied easily. If you have hard angles on the sides of your sofa like wood edges it probably won't sit as flush as it will on full fabric, but it would still do the intended job. Since installing, I have not heard the telltale scratching noises of him trying to have a go at the sofa, and he seems mildly annoyed that the texture in that spot is flat. I've not even seen him trying it after his initial disappointment of discovering it is now not only flat, but also slippery.

This furniture protector is made from thick plastic that will certainly prevent cat scratches from reaching whatever it covers. Its easy to cut to whatever size and shape you need, though it would be even easier if the paper backing were marked with a grid. I needed it to protect the wooden posts and door frames in my home. I couldnt get the plastic to bend around the posts, so I cut separate pieces. I was concerned whether the plastic would adhere properly to the rough wood surface, but so far, so good. Its quite securely fastened after several weeks in place. My only concern was that the plastic is shiny compared with the matte tape Ive used in the past. However, the shininess is only visible when lit directly and the thick plastic is a much more effective material than the thin tape which the kitties have at times ripped to shreds. So altogether, Im very happy with this product. I just wish it were a bit less visible which is why Ive given it four stars. (Now that Ive tested it, Ill repaint the posts and install more of the plastic.)
