It's felt with self adhesive backing. I was expecting something more carpet-like with some durability. My cats seem to have taken a liking to scratching on my leather shiatsu massaging chair (GASP!). Hopefully, this will protect the chair. But I'm not impressed with the quality.

I bought this to cover badly fraying rope on a cat tower. One of our cats had a habit of chewing on the rope strands, and I didn't want swallowed fibers to damage her intestinal tract. These sticky-back felt pads were just the right width to cover the posts of the multilevel tower and long enough to wrap each post twice around. There were enough in the pack to do the entire tower, with 2 remaining for other use. The ONLY PROBLEM is that the adhesive doesn't stick to itself quite firmly enough for this type of wrapping. The final edge soon began to peel and lift up, so we had to secure the pads with strapping tape wrapped around. That is working, holding the pads as the cat happily scratches them. (In retrospect, I probably should have removed the remaining rope coils and applied the felt pads directly to the cardboard tubes of the posts, but that would have been a lot of extra work, and I think the adhesive on the end edges of the felt pads still would have loosened and let go.) As some folks will apply these pads flat, directly on furniture or walls, I can see why the adhesive can't or shouldn't be stronger, so to protect those surfaces. Overall, I'm satisfied with how they worked for our needs. Thank you.

This is the surface the cat will scratch, of course. The back has a white peel-off cover. Simply peel it off and attach (almost) everywhere you would like. This is great for saving your furniture. However, this product does not stick well to porous surfaces, such as covering up a previously used scratching post. The last picture I uploaded shows it on the small cat tower, covering the scratching section that is worn out. After three days, the product was unsticking. Other than not sticking to porous surfaces, this item works wonderfully. I will come back and edit this review should any of the pads I put on the sides of my bed, couches, etcetera give me any problems.

The media could not be loaded. The product IS exactly as described. The adhesive is good...great actually. I am unsure about felt as an anti scratching surface NOR scratching. Now that I put these on the door that two of my cats tend to scratch all the time, they tend to now try to scratch the top and pull them off the door. The truth is they're not scratching felt. But they do scratch in between and that was my mistake because I didn't assemble them back to back. I would never put these on a couch because if a cat did enjoy scratching and we're still teaching them at that place is a scratching place. I think if you want anti-scratching the clear plastic sheets that are very smooth are the least attractive for cats to scratch. If you want scratching or you want to give a cat a place to scratch either the cardboard scratchers that can be hung, or the mats that are made out of sissel or more pleasing to their claws. On a whole other note... I would suggest if you have a project you're doing and you want something that slides and protects from the sliding sound of (For example) a cookie jar sliding on a countertop, these pieces would be fantastic to stick to the bottom of a bowl or table top display because they will protect the service and they're not too hard to cut to fit whatever you're using them for. But I'll be honest then if I didn't already have somebody sticking to a door in our house it probably return the product.

I got these through the ZeeBooth vine program to put on an ottoman that our cats have insanely scratched up. We pretty much keep it around now to direct them away from our nice furniture. However, they like to focus on the corners and had pretty much worn away the fabric and cushioning and were scratching into the wood frame. This also caused a lot of mess with ripped fabric and insulation, plus splinters from the wood. I ended up cutting off excess fabric to make the adhesive easier to stick to the ottoman and cut these down to fit over the corners that were destroyed. The mat was easy to cut and I'd say the adhesive is relatively strong. However, one of our cats is pretty strong and I worried he would easily rip off the mat so I ended up using an upholstery staple gun to make sure it would stay on. I positioned the staples away from areas where I knew my cats would scratch to keep them from hurting themselves on the metal. This has worked really well so far. I don't know how long the mat will last until they claw through it but I figure I'll just stick more matting over that until I run out. All of that said, I'm not sure how well this would work for furniture that you don't want to use a staple gun on, but it's worked really well for me.
