Some cats like horizontal scratch spots, others vertical - and some just like your fabric and furniture! My cat wasn't into sisal posts, but does like fabric and horizontal spots to scratch. By using the Devopet self-adhesive mat, I was able to turn an ugly windowsill area (see before and after photos) into a nice window space where my cat can go nuts and get a nice view. The mats came a little bent in the mail, but it didn't impact its adhering ability or its ability to mold over curves. I could see this used on walls or homemade cat trees/castles - basically any hard surface that has been cleaned up. The mats feel nice to the touch - just rough and deep enough that a cat can get their nails in, but in our cat tests so far, no claws get stuck- just as with cardboard scratchers, but nicer. The adhesive is very good and *just* forgiving enough that if you need to pull up and just slightly during that first application, you can. A tip: these came with nice pull tabs to get off the clear protective liner to expose the adhesive, but I recommend holding the silvery part to prevent separating the fabric from the adhesive altogether. Other than that caution, it's good stuff - just add some catnip or silvervine spray to get you cat interested and it's good to go!

Great product and the little claw monsters love it. I have 4 furry monsters that love just love to destroy furniture. As you can see from the pictures of the before (yeah they love just love attacking furniture when I am not looking) and after, the scratching mat has more uses than just it being used as a floor mat. I have included dimensions and you will note that its somewhat designed to be cut/used into 3 sections. With a little creativity you can put this product to much more comprehensive use. If you have pets or companions that love demolishing furniture or just need to use their claws to mark territory this product is well worth using.

I used this to recover a set of pet steps that the cats had been using to scratch on. You get three pieces, foil on the back, grey on top. I cut mine to fit with household scissors. There is adhesive between the foil backing and a clear film with green letters/stripes on it, not between the foil and carpet. I found getting that film off the most frustrating thing I've done in ages. Finding the edge of the clear film and getting it to lift off the foil was frustrating. Then, when I would get it started it would rip and not pull off in one piece and I'd have to spend another long period of time getting it started again. But once I had it off the adhesive worked to hold it down. As mine had to wrap around the ends of the steps I also stapled it to the wood just to be sure. Looks good after I was done.

I like this product.....it is easy to cut since there are guidelines on the back side which make measuring more accurate. I was getting very frustrated getting the backing off until I read that there are starter tabs that enable it to come off easier. However, that was not mentioned in the directions and I had to unroll the entire package to find it. Hopefully the backing will continue to effortlessly pull off, otherwise the time it takes to remove the film would make me change my mind in regards to recommending it. Update: taking the clear backing off this product is frustrating and takes the sticky portion with it. My husband tried it and couldn't get it either. It shouldn't take a long time to have success. If someone has an answer please share it....otherwise don't buy it!
