I got the Japanese village painting and at first glance was impressed about the quality of the canvas and materials. Unfortunately, this didnt last long as the layout is impossible to accurately paint. The lines are way too thin, way thinner than the smallest paintbrush they provided, see the picture and decide for yourself. The paints covered well though.

Pros: About 1/2 done ( takes me a long time to paint, hard to find enough free time) Paints were very good (so far) Canvas looks nice (quality) Included materials are good (not great , it's a starter type painting) Love the paint by numbers (as a novice it's nice) Cons: The canvas was folded, which caused some fold marks.... I like it sit for a week or so under my physics book (very large), I also steamed it to reduce the wrinkle (no big deal for me) Thanks

Good scene a lot going on, but a lot of dark colors. I nearly ran out of the dark blue color so you might want to go lightly on that. This takes patience but the result is pretty great. I wish it were a lighter tone so you could see more detail

It came folded up in a plastic sleeve, which meant the canvas had definite crease lines, which the instructions indicate to iron in order to remove. Although the smaller creases disappeared, the main creases in the center of the canvas were still noticeable even after ironing, and the heat of the iron made the canvas pucker in several places, so that is a negative point for me. I am hoping that the crease lines and puckers arent noticeable once the canvas is fully painted and framed. The brushes are adequate, but you may find it easier to paint if you have a better set of brushes, especially to do the various tiny spaces. I'm only partially complete, but the paint seems fine. I do like that the canvas is printed with light scaling, which makes it significantly easier to find the numbers related to the color I have open. Overall, I have seen some better put together kits for a little more expensive, but for the price point and the image, I am pleased with this kit. Helpful hint: In prior paint-by-numbers, I have found that when the first coat of paint dries, the numbers often are still visible through the paint (especially for lighter colors), but if I glob a thicker layer of paint over the number section when painting the first coat, it does well to cover it as it dries.

i had a lot of fun working on this! i haven't done paint by numbers since i was a kid so this was pretty nostalgic. it's very satisfying seeing everything come together. id recommend this for yourself or even a gift to someone who's more artsy.
