Made clothes smell like sour milk

I was excited to try a new soap at a good value. And I tried... oh, did I try. After using this soap exclusively for 3 weeks, following the instructions to rewash multiple times if the clothes didn't seem clean, etc., my entire wardrobe and linen closet smelled like sour milk. The more I used this soap, the worse the smell got. I have switched to a different soap - another brand that I had never tried before - and within two wash cycles everything smelled fine again. Without having to wash multiple times per load.

Seems To Work Well So Far

I just bought this detergent, specifically for my cloth diapers (my daughter is not born yet so I haven't gotten to try this out on anything 'dirty' yet) but I used it first on some unused loads of sheets and burp cloths and flannels and things for her that I needed to wash. I was surprised by how thin this detergent is- basically like water. Not thick at all like normal detergents, but I watched the load as it went (I have a toploader with a clear glass lid) and it really did suds up and seemed to clean well. I don't *love* the smell. Somehow it smells kind of chemically even though it's natural, but after I put the items in the dryer it didn't smell so much like the detergent anymore. I used the recommended 2/3 of the cap for these loads, but did do an extra rinse cycle on my washer since it is HE and the loads were small; I thought 2/3 was still a little excessive for the amount of laundry I had to do, but the bottle says to use 2/3 and then a full cap for large loads, so that is what I did. I will update this review once I use it on actual dirty items, along with my cloth diapers.

Solved my son's dermatitis and hives.

I admit I was a bit skeptical about this product but was convinced to try it from the various great reviews. We have tried numerous allergy recommended, dye free, perfume free, dermatology recommended soaps and my son still broke especially if it is HE. This soap was the solution we were looking for. Clothes come out clean and soft-really no need for softeners. I'm glad I found Charlie's Laundry Soap.

Soap for the whole family

I purchased Charlie's so I could use an eco-friendly soap for everyone's laundry- including our 6 month old who has extremely sensitive skin. Works great! Occasionally it smells odd when you're pouring it into the wash- but the laundry only has the faintest 'clean' scent out of the wash/dryer. Sometimes we have to use additional stain remover to take care of hard core baby stains, but that is to be expected. I've been very pleased with this product.

The Reviews are Skewed

I just started using Charlie's Soap and I am in love with it. It has a light, clean smell and really gets my clothes clean. Also, a little goes a long way! I was hesitant to buy this detergent because of the low-star reviews. Most of the negative reviews are from people using this to clean cloth diapers (apparently this soap isn't so good with cloth diapers). For normal laundry, though, this detergent is my absolute favorite. Pros - A concentrate...so a little goes a long way - Smells wonderful - Doesn't leave any pungent smell on the clothing Cons - None yet
