If you've read any of my other reviews here on ZeeBooth, you may have seen me mention that we have six cats, one of whom is absolute h3ll on wheels. (paws..). This cat is fearless and laughs in he face of danger or anything else that would scare the bejeebers out of any normal cat or even human. While we love him to death (when he's asleep), he is a master at destroying furniture. The little turkey loves to pull himself along the bottom outside edges of chairs, couches, bed frames, you name it, like he is Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible. Three guesses as to how he does it.... Yup, his little murder mittens. Most anti-scratch products are made for the outside corners of furniture, such as the corner of sofa arms, and not for the corner where the front of a piece of fabric-covered furniture meets the underside. Trying to DIY a strip of upside-down packing tape the length of a full-sized couch isn't happening. And this furry yahoo's antics are encouraging our other cats, especially his sister-from-another-mister, to try new and exciting ways to tear down our house around us while we sleep. She's already tried mimicking his upside down, on the floor, zip lining trick and thinks it's great fun. These strips are the first product we've come across that we've been able to successfully use to cover these underside/front corners of our furniture. We stuck them first to the corners of his favored couch. Good news is, these strips have stopped his sister from continuing to join in his activities. Bad news is, this little h3llion doesn't give a rat's rear end. Apparently all we have done is given him a better grip so he can now pull himself around the perimeter of the couch even faster than he could with claws alone. He likes it so much that he brought me a dead mouse to play with him with (we live in the country across from a wildlife sanctuary, so we get the occasional mouse which our cats quickly dispatch but then they play hacky sack with the body until we stop them and give the critter a decent burial). The only other times we've been given "gifts" is when we brought them home a giant cat tree playhouse, so yeah...he really loves this sticky tape. He will sit and stick his paws to it, one front paw then the next, and even stick his cat toys to the tape then swat them off as entertainment. As for our other five NORMAL cats, they want nothing to do with this tape. Once they got their paws stuck, that was it. No bueno. Now they bypass furniture corners with one of these tape strips barely stuck. For them, the sight of the tape strip is enough to discourage them. In a way this is really good. Once the sticky side is exposed, it collects hair and dust and whatnot which keeps the corners of your furniture cleaner, but over time it becomes less sticky and therefore less of an effective deterrent and will need to be replaced. Overall, these strips are an effective tool to help stop your cat(s) from tearing up the corners of your furniture. Or you could have a complete nutter like we do, and they could think these tape strips are a gift and a great way to break speed records for clawing your way around the underside of the couch. Who are we to stand in the way of dreams of kitty glory?
