My dog loves chewing on sticks and wood, but I have discouraged her from eating sticks in the yard since they are a choking hazard. My vet bill will attest to that! But these sticks are very thick and she cant swallow them whole so we are ok there, and the pieces that flake off are soft, small, and have not caused her any digestive issues. My dog wasnt sure what to do with these at first since I am typically taking sticks away from her rather than giving them to her, but I put one in her crate overnight and she has been chewing on it there and seems to be enjoying it. The texture is very smooth. I like that it is a natural material. She usually has one of those nylon bones to chew on, which she really loves, but Id rather give her one of these made of wood rather than plastic or whatever those other ones are. She is a heavy chewer and there is only minor wear on the stick in the week since she started chewing on it. Where I see a chew pattern, it isnt sharp and hasnt got that issue that nylon bones have where they grab onto fabric. It has no smell, and that could be part of the reason my dog wasnt initially overjoyed about this stick, but I put a little peanut butter on it to get her interested and let her know it was ok to play with. Im a big fan so far.

I did a ton of research on these bones and read good things. I gave it a try. Nothing but chips of wood. My dog threw up a pile of chipped wood it was so bad. Wanted to like this so much as I hate the plastic ones and this is just as bad.

But - these are great! They are a lot bigger around than I expected, which is awesome as I have aggressive-chewing Australian Cattle Dogs, several foster dogs, and a Pittie with a big mouth. Usually, anything chew that lasts longer than 15 minutes here will last almost forever. These are different from the sticks in my yard as they shred like fiber, not splinter like apple and ash. The dogs seem to enjoy them. I was surprised, because sticks are sticks, right? But the dogs have been taking them to bed with them since they arrived. I've seen similar coffee wood sticks in local stores at twice the price for half the size. These have no smell and don't stain.
