There are two zippers to this "two story" makeup bag, and the top is transparent, letting you take note of what items you have. Not just for makeup, it can be used as a sewing bag, first aid kit, hair accessory bag or to store your electronics in. I was really hoping for a sturdy makeup bag. It was a bit difficult to unfold and stay in place. It works OK but thought it was a hard case. My mistake.

You can pack a lot of makeup PLUS other stuff in this bag! It's roomier than it appears in the images. The clear upper section is good weight material, as is the rest of the bag. The zippers are heavy duty and have cut round disks for pulls. The handle on top is roomy without taking up a lot of space. The stitching around the top and bottom zipper areas is a nice stylish touch. I love that the bottom section is private and yet there is a clear upper section above for other items. When the upper section ('lid') is open, you will see that there are elastic straps for makeup brushes or other items that would otherwise end up at the bottom of the bag. Good organization assist. Just to get an idea of its sturdiness, I tested it out with something a bit heavier than makeup. It looked about the size of my Cricut Joy machine* (pretty small, but still a bit heavy). I was able to fit the machine plus the power cord and cable in the bottom section and it felt ok, although I don't think I'd use it to transport the Joy without holding the bottom. The point is, I think you could load a lot of makeup and personal care items in this bag and not worry about them being too heavy. It's a great bag for overnight trips, with makeup on top and lingerie or children's clothes in the bottom. Many possibilities! * FYI: Disclaimer regarding Cricut Joy storage ... the plates do not fit in the top or bottom of the case with the machine, and I am not recommending this as a Joy case. I only used it as an example of the size, and this IS a makeup bag.
