My daughter loves doing diamond art. She's done several smaller pictures. Some came with frames so no sealer was required. But she recently made a suncatcher/wind chimes sunflower design. The diamonds didn't feel loose but there were areas of sticky paper exposed. I could picture it, you give it as a gift and after a few weeks that space is covered in bugs....not great for gifts! So this sealer is the perfect solution to preventing things from sticking. My daughter is only 6 but she is very independent. She did the majority of it herself, so it's not hard to apply. I helped a little with smoothing out the edges but she got it pretty smooth on her own. We applied 2 coats and that seemed sufficient to hold the stones down as well as cover the sticky areas. It makes your project look so much nicer as well. And for $10 for 2 bottles, that's a great deal!

This diamond painting sealer works quite well. It comes with two 4 ounce bottles. The bottles sport an applicator sponge on the top to make it easy to pour the sealer and spread it over a wide surface without getting any on my hands. The plastic bottle cap is designed to keep that sponge useable for the future and to prevent blockage of the sealer. I tested this on a diamond painting that I finished last night. I put a thick coat of this sealer all over the artwork. The sealer was still wet after an hour - probably because it was so thickly applied. I let it cure overnight and checked it about 9 hours later. It was dried and completely clear. I won't need a second coat. I detected no odor when using this - and I'm very sensitive to odors. When I run out of this sealer, I plan to get more because it's a good product.

When it comes to something especially like diamond painting coasters where liquids or an plant are potentially gong to be placed on them its a good idea to have a sealer. It also covers the adhesive on the project so dust doesnt stick over time. I was using regular puzzle glue sealer and it worked great but Im glad to have a sealer specifically for diamond painting. Some people like this sponge style application and others like the brush application. Theres no right or wrong, just personal preference. If bubbles do form I just blow in them or take a (water) damp tissue and lightly pat the bubbles away. The water causes the tissue not to soak up too much of the sealer. :)

I tested this sealer on some partial drill shapes and a standard full round drill painting and it mostly secures the drills. I say mostly because on one of the cutout shapes it worked great on the first try, but on a second cutout shape I had to apply it three times before the drills were frozen in place. On the larger diamond painting, nearly all of the drills were unmovable after one coating, but a couple still could be moved around the edges. After five attempts, I still could not get a drill in two of the corners to stick no matter how much I carefully spread the sealer or how long I let it dry. They still could be moved and yet all of the other edge diamonds were firmly stuck. On a positive note, even after multiple coatings the diamond painting maintained its shine and looked fine. The sealer also did a fine job at removing the sticky edges, which is so important for partial drill projects like coasters and magnets. I do like the sponge applicator but I'm not in love with the thickness of this sealer. I think the issue is that it really doesn't want to seep down and around the drills and even making sure I really worked in still was no guarantee it would go where it was needed. I prefer a similar product that I also reviewed for Vine, LEMEITU Diamond Painting Sealer. It too has a sponge tip applicator but the sealer is much thinner so it is easy to get a good application on the first try because it easily sinks down between the drills to the canvas.
