Works fine, once you figure it out. Took me a bit to figure it out though. There were no easy quick instructions anywhere on the box or on the product as to how to use it. When I turned it on it cycled through several different screen display settings, one which included a beeping sound, and then the last setting just said low, referring to the initial temperature that showed when I turned it on. But it never gave any indication that it was ready to actually use to take a new temperature reading. So I reluctantly referred to the very lengthy enclosed instructions that came with it, which required a lighted magnifying glass to actually see. After skimming through a couple pages I finally found the instructions which explained that it would cycle through several different readings when first turned on, and then said it would be ready to be used at that point. So even though it showed a "low" reading as the last displayed reading when I turned it on, and never changed to indicate it was ready for another reading, I went ahead and stuck it under my tongue for a minute to see whether it would actually record my temperature. It did. So seems to work, and seems to show an accurate temperature reading. Comes in a nice fitted plastic case for storage.

I like that it only takes 30 seconds to read, I always take two readings because the thermometer needs to warm up a little then it will be more accurate. I took off one star because the battery was almost dead on arrival. If you need to use this ASAP I would order/buy some LR41 batteries to have on hand just in case and spares for the future. The nice thing is- the device only needs one battery. The other nice thing is the thermometer comes in a reusable storage case. Thoroughly sanitize your thermometer with an alcohol wipe or rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad after use and before storing it back inside the case which will keep it clean for the next oral use. You could buy some probe covers for when the whole family is sick, but it's more garbage for the environment so I would save those for rectal use only and very contagious illnesses such as strep. There are instructions in great detail on how to use this product. The thermometer works well, plan to buy extra batteries for future use. The batter included may be a tester one only. Beeps when the reading is ready for viewing. Celcius and Fahrenheit are adjustable. There is an alarm sound when the fever is high. The probe is soft and flexible, more comfortable than a stick-type or solid thermometer. Pink is a nice soothing color. Also, this would make a handy gift for new moms. Readings are accurate, use the pamphlet and keep it handy in a first aid kit or medicine cabinet. Store in a cool dry place, away from heat and sunlight is best.

At the current price ($6.99) this is a good deal for a basic thermometer.
