My small dog is always SO warm, so I thought this would help her stay cooler when she sleeps. She doesn't mind sleeping on it, but she still seems to be so hot, even after I had her beautiful coat shaved down for summer. I've tried putting my hand under her, and she's still so warm, so I'm not convinced there is really a lasting cooling effect. I tried laying on it for a few minutes myself just to see. You definitely feel the coolness on initial touch, but then it's gone almost instantly. I didn't notice any cooling effect for myself either, but maybe it doesn't work the same for us. I don't know. I had a small mat a few years ago for my pregnant cat in the hottest part of the summer and she lived on that thing because it just stayed cold as long as she stayed on it. I guess maybe I just had similar expectations for this as well.

This cooling mat seems to work well for just being fabric with no cooling gel or ice. My dog does like it and lays on his bed more with it on when it is hot dying the day, but I tested it out myself by laying on it for a bit so I could get an accurate review. It is definitely cool to touch compared to all other fabric surfaces but it doesnt feel like it continues to cool after prolonged periods of laying it after your body warmed it up. My dog still lays on the floor if he gets really hot but prefers the cooling mat on his dog bed when he wants a comfier surface. What I didnt like about the mat is it slips very easily on wood or tile floor. It also gets rumpled up on the bed when he walks on and off the bed. Overall it helps but it can only do so much. It probably cools a few degrees which makes it enough that my dog uses his bed during summer and not just laying on the floor. The largest size was perfect for my 75 lb. dog to lay on.

OMG LOL - I love how the picture shows two animals on this thing. It is very small. Ours is folded in half, because mom wanted the extra cushion for her dog, which probably defeats the whole purpose. Bottom line, he's willing to lay on it, and it's small.

I shouldn't be surprise that my cat loves this cooling mat, that's why I named her Sassy. This mat is not cushioned so I leave it on the rug, but some of the wording in the listing lead you to think it is. One side is silky and the other side is a open weave mesh. I ordered the large size even tho my furbabies are small, but they do like to stretch out. Overall I am happy with this mat, and yes it does feel cool. Update: a month later and my dog still loves this blanket
