This may has lasted longer than any of the gel filled ones Ive purchased. It is more durable. My fur baby has not poked any holes in, even after a year. I recently added more water to it. It smells mildewy on the inside, but thats what happens when the water isnt filtered. And since its closed off and doesnt leak, Im not worried about it.

Used for different purpose

I bought this for my 11 month old lab. He is always hot and I thought I'd try to make his bed more comfortable. Unfortunately, all he wanted to do was play with it and carry it all over the house. I had also purchased a cover for the mat and I took it away from him before he destroyed it and layed it across my bed. I decided to give it a try myself. Oh my goodness! It worked for me. I used it all summer on my bed. I can't believe how it cools down your body. The only problem is now I need two of them . Lol

I noticed my puppy likes to sit on cold surfaces when possible so I purchased this mat so that she can lay comfortably next to me on carpeted areas. I think the material on this makes it so that it will generally stay pretty cool but the added option of putting water in seems neat. I had a hard time trying to figure out the best way to get water in. I managed to get a good bit in but couldn't fill it up. I'm not really sure why. I used my water hose outside and it doesn't fit flush to the hole to fill the mat. Still I was able to get enough water in. Then my puppy started biting at this which made me very nervous but after correcting the behavior and showing her that she's meant to lay on it, she stopped and thankfully did not puncture the material. If you have a dog that chews on things a lot, maybe don't fill this with water initially. I think I might drain the water back out of this and just use it as is. It still fulfill the same purpose I think. I don't know that the water aspect is adding much to it. Also, the design on this looks much better in pictures than it does in person - at least for the water pattern. Still overall it is a decent mat for dogs that need cooler surfaces to lay on and it's neat to have the option to add water to keep it cool.

Just what I was looking for!

My 14 year old Alaskan Klee Kai enjoys sunbathing outside - crazy for a nordic dog! I bought this mat hoping he would enjoy his sunbathing while staying cool and after a couple hours, he started using it! Durable thick mat and adding cold water makes it like a cool waterbed for your pup! I feel better now knowing he can enjoy the hot summer sun and stay cool.
